Hello I was prescribed the drug to 1 to 3 30 minutes before bed. I tried 1 no pain relieve so went up to 2 and after a few weeks I am sleeping better it takes a few weeks to kick in not an instant response so give it time, if your getting side effects check with your prescribing parmatist for advice about all the medicines your taking you could be taking them in the wrong order or to close together with meal or before or after, please seek advice.
Good afternoon
I only take one table a week, to help with sleep. Side effects for me were waking up feeling really groggy and very dry mouth. I am now able to tolerate one tablet a week now without any really symptoms, but its taken time to build up to that. If I continued to take the Amitriptyline every day I would get no benefits and feel like hell.
Best wishes

I was on it for several months. It did help me sleep but I felt very groggy in the mornings and had a very dry mouth, despite special lozenges and mouthwash. I had to stop taking it when the sunny weather started because I developed an allergy to sun and burnt badly despite high factor creams. The sunburn persisted for months after I stopped, but hoping it will not recur next spring when the sun appears again!
I take amitriptyline for nerve pain, ive been on it for years.I have a dry mouth but it's the only symptom I have but I also have sicca symptoms anyway.I take it 2 and a half hours before I go to bed.
For me personally Amitriptyline makes me sleepy fast then my normal but it’s doesn’t help my pain and my said affecting is making me moody sometimes
That it’s but I noticed 10 mg is stronger then 50mg and I hate the yellow ones stayed on your system
Longer blue one is better.
I have been on it for nearly 30 years, 150mg per night.Only side effect was dry mouth but i suck Tictac peppermint as they help and also good for stomach pains.
Always take at 7pm so i get a good few hours sleep.
😊😊
This thread may help: healthunlocked.com/fibromya... It has massive side effects for some, like me (and not caused by drug interaction). My first 10mg pill smashed a machete in my face for a day or two. Then I went on 2mg-drops, starting one by one. Drowsiness and tiredness at daytime remained normal up to the 4 months later I took it. It made my mouth so dry I had to dry cough at night, put 6kg on me, made my eyesight fuzzier, may also have increased my pulse, and especially increased my focal seizures. It got worse, not better. But it helped sleep a little bit until I could manage on my own (see "30 wakers"-post)
