Feeling very emotional and just found lumps

Hi sorry guys I don't post very often but I do read/like the comments made each day. I'm also sorry as I'm feeling very emotional tonight. Had a really bad night due to pain; cracking joints; burning soles of feet (a new one to me) and really struggled to get out of bed this morning. I'm 53 years old and have a (very bad) family history of cancer. Having had a lump removed from my breast (aged 19) I do regular checks. I have found, tonight, that my left breast seems to have a large lump and several small sore areas. So apart from being scared/tired/emotional I would really love others advise.

I’m also in the same boat, as have recently become aware of a really tender area in my breast which feels lumpy. I was concerned about and and asked my husband to feel it ( I have dreadful anxiety, so worried I’m imagining the lumpy feeling- like rails) he refused saying he wasnt a Dr and to go see one. As its near impossible to get an appointment currently so I’ve filled in a form online which hopefully will ensure I get a call back within 48 hours. It’s scary especially with your family history so better get it checked out. Good luck

Thank you for replying - it's just another emotional stress we can all do without. Where I live we have no covid - I live on an Island - but it's still difficult to actually see the doctor these days. I'll phone today and hopefully get passed the 'Rottweilers' on reception!! Good luck hun x

Have a look here nhs.uk/conditions/breast-lump/

But the advice us make an appointment with gp. Physical exams are still happening and cancer pathways are operating pretty much as normal from the last I heard.

Thanks desquinn xx

Phone your doctor ASAP. They're the first point of call. Stressing about it might give you a flare up, so the less stress the better. The sooner you get it checked out, the better you'll feel x

Hi Jamsiet, I feel for you I really do. I found a lump right back at the beginning of March just went into lockdown. I am a stresser the worlds worse, so I called my GP the same day, he called me back, we did a video chat but he called me in same day for exam, he wasn’t sure so refered me for a fast turn around in 7 days, luckily it was breast tissue but I’m so glad I went. Please call your GP today get it sorted stress makes it worse. Sending lots of love and strength x

Hi there jamsiet. I too found a lump in my bust back in January, phoned gp got sent the hospital did the biopsy etc. And results were positive for cancer. Had the lumpectomy in feb just before lockdown followed by radiotherapy during lockdown. The anxiety is just phenomenal so get where you’re coming from. They told me I had found it very early and the op was a success in removing it. I’m on a five year pathway now and on Anistozole. It seems apparent to me that you check yourself frequently and if you get a check and a positive result that equally you will have found anything in its very early stages. I have also found another lump since in September and went through the tests again and much to my relief it was negative results, so go get checked and hopefully either way you will get sorted rapidly. Good luck Jamsiet, you are in my thoughts. Keep all of us updated on your results as the wonderful people on this forum provide immense support xx

Thank you so much for your reply x I'm glad you had the negative result the second time. You are quite right I do check regularly. I used to organise an annual Bra Dash for Breakthrough Breast Cancer - great fun!! We are lucky, where I live, as most services are still running so just waiting for a call back from the Doctor. Take care hun x

Hi Jamsiet

Oh my you really are going through the mill arent you. I am not surprised that you are emotional what human being wouldnt be. Don't worry about the pain and creaking joints i am 52 but sometimes feel like 100.

I can relate to your regarding the cancer aspect, my mum had breast cancer and she is fine now they caught it very early, unfortunately it runs in the family on the female side so both my sister and myself have had yearly mammograms for many years and we did attend the family history unit every year until funding on the NHS cut this service.

Personally this is what i would do, contact your GP immediately and tell them you have found a lump they will see you no doubt and you will get a mammogram very quickly and then you can know what your dealing with and until then as you know we think the dreaded, i have very lumpy breasts but do check them regularly they can change with the menopause but please call and make an appointment to see them.

If your struggling please message me but make that appointment before you do anything else today and then you can get the help and find out what it is a lump or cyst but whatever it is you can then deal with it.

Sending you some hugs and love.

HI Panda I'm so sorry my reply to you was so brief 😜 Your comments were and are always a pleasure to read. I did have a mammogram last year. It was one of those occasions were my 'northern humour' came to the fore!!. Whilst the, very kind sounding but monotonal, nurse went through what was going to be done, probably for the 10th time that day, I asked if she had some double sided sticky tape. To this she looked surprised and confused. I explained that due to the size, or lack of size, of my boob I was worried that when they pressed (my in growing shoulder blade) between the plates I would slip out. After she had wiped her tears away she replied "I have done this job for 20 years and that is the first time I have ever been asked for that" Like you I find humour, and kind comments, the best medicine xx

I had a lump removed in my twenties which turned out to be benign and since then I have had many other lumps, including one this year. Every one of them was able to be aspirated - a quick, virtually painless procedure. Let's hope this is all it is for you, and you should be able to get a mammogram with little fuss. I got my aspiration at the same appointment as the mammogram.

Many thanks Yassytina x I have to work Monday (in Home Care) then I'm in lockdown for 14 days as my son is returning from Uni. We live in the Isle Of Man and we are so lucky we don't have any Covid cases but due to him travelling home from the UK we all have to do isolation as per our laws. Bad timing 😒I would like to thank everyone on this site for their comments and kind words. I will update asap. Please stay safe xxx
