Hi Allypally84.

What are you looking help with? Something to help with your pain?

Firstly, have you been diagnosed with fibromyalgia? If so, has your GP prescribed any medication? If you haven't perhaps ask your GP if they can prescribe something. If you have already been prescribed call your GP and tell them that your meds can be upped or changed.

I find that heat helps with the pain - hot water bottles, heat pads etc. Heat rubs etc. If you're able to take a bath try some Epsom Salts in the bath as they help with the aches and pains.

Pacing is also important. If you're doing housework for example make sure you allow time for rest breaks in between doing chores.

I'm sure others will have more ideas for you. x

Hi and a warm welcome to our community. Here you will find information support friendship and laughter too. You will find general information on fibromyalgia at our main website fmauk.org

Your title pain tolerance is a little vague , but I'm assuming you are looking for ideas to help manage pain

Medication can help some people - doesn't take pain away but can reduce it to a manageable level. Can be trial and error finding what works for you though. Medications that work on neuropathic pain are generally prescribed.

Pacing is very important to allow you to do activities and not overdo things, by taking lots of small rests. Heat can help, as can cold. Keeping active/exercise is one of the best things you can do, as stiffness, reduced muscle tone etc can all increase pain levels - but again it is important not to push yourself too much.

The pain toolkit is a great resource for pain manager ideas (there is a charge to download their booklets , but also a lot of free information, tips and techniques). paintoolkit.org

Hi

I have pain meds, these just about take the edge off so that I can get out of bed in a morning!! I also have my hot water bottle and electric blanket plus my fan on full pelt so I don't get too hot!!!

The pain meds I'm on are

Nortriptyline, zomorph, oramorph, codeine and sometimes paracetamol!!

I do hope you get some relief from your pain, I know it's s nightmare.

Take care and stay safe Lynne xxxx ❤️💜

I was recently told by a Naturalpathic doctor at pain clinic that having protein first thing in the morning is important. Like two scoops of protein powder and maybe an egg for breakfast so I suppose what I do is have egg on sprouted grain bread then I shower have a smoothie right after. Also vit D3 4000 iu. And ubiquinol it’s like CQ 10 but Better for some reason. And pacing slowly working yourself up. He said too lots of greens and low sugar.

Hello there, I see some really helpful replies already , yes the dreadful pain 🤣I do find the pacing method works and I do take meds to help, duloxtene, codiene, but I am so glad to finish my day and chill out with some Epsom salts in the bath, lay on my bed with huge pillows and rest it out until the next day, I do use a rub in gel called bio freeze on my lower back, calf’muscles shoulder blades does help (always run things by your chemist if on any medication) I order on amazon or boots may have it.
