Hello everyone - After a first couple of gentle swims since March, which felt fine at the time, I’m now in agony with wrist and finger pain. I hadn’t realised a gentle swim was going to make this symptom worse but it has unfortunately. I’ve bought some silicon wrist & thumb supports to wear next time I go. After the first swim and a rest I was also very stiff. I still wonder if I have RA. My hands and feet are usually my main areas of pain, plus a lot of stiffness all over after rest.
Take care everyone, especially if you’re returning to the pool or similar, ss

Unfortunately, even though swimming is brilliant it exercises the whole of your body and whatever stroke we do the hands and wrists are involved. I can remember when I did hydrotherapy for the first few sessions I could hardly get out of the pool and used to go home and could barely move. It was like that when I took up swimming again after a break but got easier as the weeks went on. You've had a big break from it so go gently. Hope things ease soon.x
