Hope you’re all well. Quick question: is anyone on Pregablin and if so do you notice your blood sugar is on the high side? I’m not Diabetic and normally suffer from low blood sugar if anything else, but since I’ve been on Pregablin I noted that when I’ve checked my blood sugars it’s higher than it should be... I know prednisolone used to do this... I’ve also put on another 2lbs since starting it on extra weight I’m already carrying despite a calorie controlled regimen. Dalia 💙

what is the range that you are seeing with your BM. This drug is used by a lot of diabetics due to it helping with neuropathic pain.
Hi
There's lots of drugs that can raise BG, like most drugs they affect people differently. Have you been onto the website "diabetics UK", they have lots of good info. I'm not diabetic but go on it for advice also "livestrong", is another good site... I've read that it affects some people's BG. As you know any steroids can raise it that includes inhalers. I'm unable to take any meds for fibro pain other than paracetamol and struggling to take my heart meds due to reactions, you could ask your gp to change them if your concerned about BG and weight gain. If there for neuro pain you can get other meds to help..
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I’m not diabetic myself but have a strong genetic disposition to diabetes in both sides of my family so I worry this will trigger prediabtetes state. I’ll definitely look at the websites you suggested thank you but I’m going to speak to my doctor as well because the BG aside, I’m not finding much relief from the Pregablin. I’m sorry to hear about your heart problems subsequent reactions to the meds.. I hope this can be resolved. Side effects are horrible. Hope you feel better today, Dalia 🌸
Hello Dalia74 , I don’t want to worry you but doctors never tell us every thing about the drugs they give out to us with out really knowing the full affects they can have on us . I say this as my husband was put on “Pregabalin after being wip- lashed in a car accident and they gave him morphine patches too at the same time. My husband didn’t put on weight but the combination of the two medication ( Pregabalin and morphine) caused my husband to have a mental brake down. We were told about the combination of these two drugs being bad by a doctor that was treating my husband duing physio and not by the G.P who gave him the medication , apparently their trying to band “Pregabalin I’n Ireland due to this problem. I hope that your finding some comfort and some pain relief from the “Pregabalin” but please do some research on this medication as I worry about everything they give us , as most are very bad for us and about natural drugs they don’t want us not to take, (which are not all bad for us ) . I suffer badly with my Fibromyalgia and have Osteoarthritis in most of my joints including in my jaws but after all the medication they put me on and seen first hand what they did to my husband , I only take co-codemal now (when my pain is bad) and I found that CBD helps me too and don’t have any bad affects unlike the drugs they dish out , which most are anti depressant.
Anti depressants can have server bad side affects and can make us put on weight. Hope this information was helpful.
