I have Fibromyalgia, Chronic pain in my hands, Chronic Fatigue, and Reynard's.
I'm currently on the waiting list to see a neurologist for what could be peripheral neuropathy. I'm concerned that I possibly have MS. I'm wondering if you can possibly have fibro and MS? I know that they mimic each other in some ways.
I hope that I have not offended anyone by asking this.

Don’t worry about offending, it seems a perfectly fair question to ask. So many of the chronic conditions do have overlap of symptoms so can see your thinking and need for answers. I am sorry I can’t help you but wanted to just show support and encouragement that you weren’t being offensive!

There are investigations that can rule out MS. It is possible to have both conditions although they are not related in any way. You can have Fibromyalgia along with multiple conditions. There are also many conditions that mimic or overlap each other. x
Drs should do a brain scan to either rule out or confirm MS.
An optometrist can usually see abnormalities at the back of the eyes too so a quick way to put your mind more at rest is to book an eye test. Just say it’s a routine test when you book. You'll still need the dr/hospital tests but it might help put your mind at rest. It’s how a relative of my daughter was diagnosed ( she’s doing remarkably well on a monthly hospital treatment, working full time and was head hunted for her current job since diagnosis)
I've been to see the optician who says my eyes are healthy, I'm still getting a lot of pain in my right eye though which is annoying x
That’s a really good sign that your eye check was normal. I get odd pains in my eyes, too. Usually quite fleeting. So many of our problems we never get answers to. I’m going through a “ far less headaches” time at the moment, which is a relief after having ones that lasted up to five days over a few months.

I had an MRI a couple of years ago to exclude MS from my battery of conditions. I was told there were no MS style lesions in my brain, but sometimes I wonder if they can even find a brain in there!

I don'tknow the answer I'm afraid, but I just wanted to say that I too am waiting to see a Neurologist following the results of my MRI. MS is my main concern, mainly because my symptoms are progressively getting worse. Only time will tell I guess. How long is your wait may I ask? Wishing you positive thoughts in the meantime x

Before I was eventually diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2012, I was referred to a neurologist. He ruled out MS with some visual tests and a specific blood test (sorry, but I don't know what the blood test was) .
I have M.S. & Fibro. D's. With ME 1st. Fibro later.Mri's confirm..Symptos overlap.Dont waste tiLUCK!me/money on lumbar..too invasive.Do have MRI. GOOD luck.am praying for you..
Once my GP knew I was over 60, he said it couldn't be MS. Phew!
but it made me think that the symptoms must be very similar. Not sure if you can have both or if symptoms of one mask the other. Stress makes both worse. So, please try not to worry. Your nerve tests will tell you. Good luck!
