I am 29 and was diagnosed with fibro only within the last 12 months, can't remember exactly when... my sister-in-law has fibro and she has it seemingly much worse than me and for that reason my brother and the family are inclined to believe I have been misdiagnosed. It all seems to fit but I am confused as it seems to be such a widespread set of varying symptoms and very variable in severity for sufferers.
The worst kind of pain I get I have described as it's like having a really painful migraine in my legs and wrists, but the pain moves around in response to weight-bearing, cold and touch. When aggravated by those things it feels like my bones are bending or about to snap or like someone is pushing skewers inside my bones and muscles... heat is generally a sure way of relieving a lot of the pain and generally codeine too but I don't take that any more.
Does this sound familiar to anyone else? I guess I just want to know if others experience anything similar and to understand more about it and to manage living with it.

While there are many common themes within the colourful world of the fibromite; the symptoms or experiance of those symptoms are not the same for each person with the condition.
Dr's seem disinclined to diagnose fibro generaly at present and certaintly not without rulling out anything else it possibly could be that is giving the problems. I'm sure your relitives mean well but they seem to have a rather limited picture of the posibilites and tonality of the condition.
I think it is a natural thing to want answers and often with fibro we do not get the answers,, which tends to leave us always wondering if perhaps there is something else,, , MS Thyroid,, the list goes on.

I have had Fibro for 35 years and the one piece of advice I would give if I was asked. Please don't ever measure your fibro symptoms against others who suffer with Fibro.
Just because your not as bad as someone else does not mean you don't have fibro. If you have been diagnosed with Fibro I see no reason not to except that diagnoses untill your GP finds it was a misdiagnosis . I hope that makes sense. I'm old my brains slowing down 😂

Basically we are all different. Both my wife and I have been diagnosed with dear old fibromyalgia and yet each of us are different in many ways. Your relation is wrong to base your diagnosis on her symptoms we are all different as to the effect. I have five brothers we all have osteoarthritis but all are affected in different ways but we all still have the same condition.
If everything else was eliminated before your diagnosis, then comparing yourself to sil probably won’t help. I used to think I’d got off lightly compared to many people I read a put on here but realise I’ve got worse over the last 18 months. Pain is wider spread than previously, fatigue is far worse and my energy levels are down on the floor more days than not.
It’s a conditional that’s variable, both between individuals and within each person. If you think about it most illnesses and conditions are—— one person will be really ill with say chickenpox, another barely unwell. My daughter has an in law who has MS, she’s doing really well, able to work full time and mobile, another person even of a similar age can be affected much more badly.
For now, I’d say don’t worry about what anyone else thinks, you concentrate on looking after you and keep yourself as well as you can.
We are all different and so it’s best not to compare yourself and your pain to your sister in law. I can relate to your pain. Sometimes I can appear completely ‘normal’ and move around with ease, other days in bed bound with pain. It doesn’t make it any less real for following different patterns. X
You should ask your family members where they got their medical degree!
I have Fibromyalgia as does my sister funnily enough, there are times when she appears worse than me and so on but she would never disagree with my diagnosis.
It’s difficult enough having to deal with the diagnosis without having to try and convince your family.
Hang in their and please don’t worry what others think because that will cause stress and anxiety and it will make you worse.
