Elevated Oestradiol

I’ve been suffering from frequent heavy periods and constant spotting for over a year. Around a year ago I had some blood tests and a pelvic scan - pelvic scan clear but my bloods showed my oestradiol to be elevated at 600 ( top of range 400). My problem has continued, I’m covered in acne and irritable all the time and I now have right side ovary pain and gastro problems resembling IBS.

I returned to the doctor today only to be advised to have the Mirena coil fitted to regulate my periods.

They have agreed to repeat my pelvic scan on my request (to put my mind at ease?!). But said hormone testing is pointless as they don’t know where I am in my cycle.

I’m really at a complete loss. Surely they should be trying to figure out if my estrogen is constantly elevated? And if it is then try and lower it or find out why rather than just top me up with male hormones?

Any advice would be welcomed x

I had similar issues to you, heavy periods, pain, spotting etc. The drs are only just now finding out why years later, a bleeding disorder, not picked up by regular screens. All I know is I had a coil fitted which gave me many pain free years. Looking back I would still choose this route. I hope you find a solution soon.
