Restless legs

Hi fellow sufferers

I just wanted to ask if anyone has suffered with restless legs. It only started a few nights ago. It started off feeling like my legs don't belong in my body and are constantly wanting to move. The worst thing is the pain that goes along with it. I seem to just manage to drop off to sleep and it starts. Anybody had this.

Yes I've had RLS for a few years and it's gradually getting worse. It stops me sleeping most nights and then you can't cope if you don't sleep. To help I regularly stretch, massage my legs and feet daily, use magnesium spray, have a remedial massage every month to 'flush the legs out. Last night I put a water bottle on them and it really helped stop it! Also tried an ice pack in hot weather. I've read, on an RLS site, about putting flat (cut in half) perfumed soap in the bed...mad I know! It worked for a while then stopped. I know of a doctor who does an RLS clinic and may be desperate enough to pay for that and travel to him (not local). Hope these suggestions help you!

Hi Paige1999,

I had it a couple of days ago for the first time and it was scary! I was wondering if this has something to do with excessive calcium because that particular night I had forgotten to take my preventative medication for migraines and tinnitus which is a selective calcium channel blocker (flunarizine) and it went away the next night after taking the medication. That could also explain why magnesium works well, simce it is a calcium antagonist. That’s just a wild thought.

Hope you can find a solution soon.

I get it too, and its soooo annoying and painful too. For me its the worst when I am sitting down, and long bus journeys etc are a nightmare, or even watching TV a bit longer. Magnesium in tablet form helps me to some degree, but haven't found anything that gets rid of it totally. Oh yes, and a good, strong massage helps too. HUgs
