Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) describes the off-label use of the medication naltrexone at low doses for diseases such as multiple sclerosis.

Naltrexone is typically prescribed for opioid dependence or alcohol dependence, as it is a strong opioid antagonist.

Preliminary research has been promising for use of LDN in treating chronic medical conditions such as chronic pain, but at this stage the use of LDN as a treatment is still experimental and more research needs to be done before it can be widely recommended.

i've been using LDN for almost 6 years now for fibro, and for me personally it has definitely helped ... although my daughter also tried taking it for a few years, and got very limited benefits.

for me - it turns the pain dial down ... it takes away some of the intensity but it doesnt actually take the pain away. but it does help me significantly enough that I was able to return to work part time.

like everything, it doesnt work for everyone - but for those it does work for, it can have quite significant benefits. xxxx

Thanks Hazel, it seems tailor made for me, I have fibro, crohn"s and psoriasis and it apparently help all three, I asked two consultants at the hospital today and neither had heard of it, I think I will give it a go, will have to get it online I think. Thank you for replying its been helpful xxx

when i first mentioned it to my doctor ... she was like "that's used for opiod overdoses - that won't do you any good" until i explained that yes, that is what it is used for at full dose - but at low-dose it does a whole lot more.

good luck - and feel free to pm me if you have any questions - can't guarantee to have the answers but i'm always happy to share my own experiences. xxx
