Hiya

I think I’ve come to the right place 😳

I’ve being struggling with pain of all sorts for years.

My Gp sent me to hospital to see a rheumy doctor after having all X-rays and MRI scan doctor mentioned I may also have fibromyalgia.

I’m currently being treated for psoriasis arthritis with methotrexate and sulfasalazine to name a few 🙂also have high blood pressure and on pills for that. Now seen a different doctor at hospital and he wants me to try Amitriptyline sorry if spelt wrong.

Can anyone give me any tips on it.

Plus does it work. Has it helped

Thanks

Hello nuttyshirlz, I don't take amitriptyline but I think some take it for nerve pain and insomnia. I take gabapentin for my nerve pain and it works for me ( jumpy twitchy muscles and pain) Take care. Chris

I do not take amitripylene myself - however, many people find that it helps with sleep issues, pain relief and as a muscle relaxant.

Amitriptyline didn't work for me, just made me feel weird, so weirdly fuzzy in fact that I had to stop taking it. I do tend to be a bit sensitive with some meds, especially if the label says "may make you drowsy" usually there is no "may" about it and I'm zonked out!

I take amitriptyline and gabapentin, and this combination works well for me, well at the moment it works well for me. I take the gabapentin three times a day, and take my first amitriptyline at 4pm and again at 8pm. I find that when I don't take the amitriptyline I don't sleep well, sometimes not at all, and as we all know getting a good night's sleep is vital. You can only try them and see if they work for you. Good luck xx
