Growing up in pain

Hi, I'm new here. I've just turned 19 and been diagnosed with Fibro. To be honest I can't remember a time where pain wasn't part of my life. According to my parents ive felt joint pain and allodynia since I was a baby. I was wondering if anyone else has any experiance with growing up in pain? I have met a few people also with fibro but they only seem to have had it in their adult life. I have also just moved away from home for university and I'm struggling to manage self care, work and mental health without a support network close by. Does anyone have any tips for doing day to day things that will help juggle everything or make one area easier?

Hi there and welcome . I hope by starting a new place to live and university you will make new friends I'm sure it will open a whole new world for you. We do have younger members so hoping you will get to chat and make new friends on the forum as well. Here's a link if you wish to lock your posts healthunlocked.com/fibromya... that way only our members can see and not open to any other thread. Wishing you all the best for your new start there might be a support group for fibro sufferers in your area as well , so check it out many places do have these. Try and pace yourself with rest and down time in between your studies just take quality time for you to do something nice with quiet time out . Xxxx

Hi Elysiaj I am also 19 and in my second year at university, I didn’t grow up with body pains but a year ago, 4 months into my first year at uni i started suffering with pains and headaches etc. unfortunately I still don’t have a diagnosis (although I may end up with a fibromyalgia diagnosis soon)so my uni can not offer me any official help but yours should be able to help you if your doctor has given you an official diagnosis. I find day to day things difficult but manageable with the support of my partner, after a few weeks at uni you will find friends who will become your support network they may not completely understand, but they will help you feel like a normal uni student.

Good luck

I managed to get help with studying eg they record the lectures for me if i have to miss some but not with the day to day things like laundry or changing bed sheets so i can only do those things on a good day. thats so great that you have someone to help!
