my doc said you cant diagnose fibromyalgia and just puts chronic fatigue syndrome on my sick notes? bit fed up i have struggled for years

There is no reason why your gp cannot diagnose fibromyalgia.

You can request a gp pack to be sent out from fma uk office (anonymously) at fmauk.org/gprequest

I understand your frustration. I have a benign cystic tumour as well as recently diagnosed fibro. However, my gp writes back pain on my sick notes. At least we know what's wrong with us though Hun. Gentle hugs to you. Take care xx

Ask for a referral to a rheumatologist, they will diagnose you.

Hi lizi64. Sorry you doc won’t diagnose fibromyalgia. I had to move doctors surgeries to just start the process of diagnosing. Request your doc to refer you to a rheumatologist. This is the area that will diagnose the condition. Firstly you will have to go through numerous tests and X-rays to determine if is isn’t arthritis. Fibromyalgia can then only be diagnosed once all tests for arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis has been ruled out. Hope this helps. I know the struggles your having it took me over two years to be finally diagnosed.
