What is something helpful that you do that helps your pain?

The weather plays a great deal on how I feel mentally and physically. When the weather changes all year round I go through a time whereas I suffer intense pain. Sometimes heat helps sometimes cold works..

Hi teakse

I know what you mean as I have arthritis and in the winter when the weather is colder I get more pain in my legs, back and hips as a result. I really would much sooner have the summer all year round!

I was wondering if you suffer with SAD (seasonal adjustment disorder) As you say that the changes can affect you mentally? If so, it may be an idea to talk to your medical specialist about this and see if they can help in some way if you have not already?

All my hopes and dreams for you

I've just been reading something about Mony Don the gardener, who has suffered from depression for most of his life, and uses a light box.

I use a lightbox its great. Really gives your mood a boost in winter, or even on just grey days x

I am so genuinely sorry to read that CreakyBea and I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck my friend. I have plant growing lights and I do often wonder if they help me as I tend to be cheerful most of the time?

Thanks Ken...a question what are plant growing lights - never heard of them and where can I get them?

Hi CreakyBea the plant growing lights are little square electric lights usually a pinky / orange colour light that gives off vitamin D and E and help plants grow healthily. These are the same two vitamins that people need to help stave off SAD. You can get them from about £5 to £10 on Ebay.

Good luck my friend

Ken :)

Hi yes I do have sad. Where I live winter is about six months. It is mostly cloudy and grey. I have not had a sad lamp in years, it is something I will look into. Thanks.

Weather has always had a inapct on how i feel for the 20 odd years of my life and well before i even suffered any health issues. When i eas younger i would love getting wet in the rain used to love the snow and waking up to foggy mornings.. loved the warm feeling of the gas fire and heating on coming home to mum making us hot choclate and having soup for diner some days.. but then i got married at 20 and moved up north to live with my inlaws where i was tortured slept in a cold attic with my kids no heating nothing.. i used to have to go walking 2miles to pick my daughter from school and bus it back with her..😭😭 i had chilblains on my feet n lived a miserable life till i finely walked away from it all took me 10 yrs... i left my x in 2004 now living happily and safely with my kids in Bham near my parents but the min the weather changes i get more depressed..hate the cold n dark nights...

Oh gosh Ouch 😔

What a dreadful thing to happen to you and your children.

I don't know how you managed to find the strength to leave.

Have you ever had any counselling? If not it may do you good to talk it through with someone.

You can get free counselling with MIND. I saw a Project Worker there (for various issues) and also saw a professional counsellor for childhood issues.

I will go and copy a link for you and come back with it.

I need to pop downstairs and go on my pc to copy the link over.

Well done to you for getting out of such an awful situation. It can't have been easy.

Wishing you much peace

Lu xx

Hiya sounds like you really had it rough with your in laws. How awful for you and your Children. The effects can be long lasting. So glad for you now that your in a better place. I'm not far from you in Dudley. I suffer from Sad it seems to come on earlier each year. Have tried the mood lights but didn't help. But like you I'm in a far better place now and even though I'm having a flare at the minute I'm happier than I've been in year's. Take care x

Seems like most of us suffer from changing weather....I do have a SAD lamp that I put on in the mornings whilst having a cup of tea and it seems to help. So pleased that you are now in a much happier place. Having been part of our fibro family for quite a while I do notice so many of us have had traumatic experiences during childhood and beyond.....I wonder how that brings such changes to our bodies that we end up as we are!!! And if it is those awful events who do we blame? If anyone.....Gentle hugs xx

One very small thing that affects my mood is that in warm weather we can leave the back door open. When we have to keep it closed because it's colder, it makes a real difference.
