Hi guys

I've had the dreaded Fibro for 20 years and I know just how low it can bring you. I've just retired from work and I'm feeling a bit lost and very low at the moment. I have my lovely dogs and cats but sometimes I can hardly cope with them.

I think it will be great to talk to people who understand just how terrible this can make you feel.

Hi JackiG

Welcome to the forum 😊 I have every sympathy with you. I have had Fibro, Chronic Fatigue and a list of other issues for over 30 years.

I worked for 34 years, but after suffering a huge trauma a couple of years ago I finally had to give in and resign from work.

Even after having had Fibro for all this time I still learn something new nearly every day. If you take a look at our mother site you'll find a wealth of information on there fmauk.org

Since I have been a part of the forum I have made the most wonderful friendships and I am sure that you will too.

Please do feel free to join in any conversations going. Sometimes we do get a bit silly and have a laugh but it helps to take your mind off the pain.

I look forward to chatting with you again.

Hi jackiG....welcome to this forum of Fibro Friends!

What a long time to have endured the"half life" that is Fibromyalgia....and still, doctors are no nearer to knowing the cause and to offer long term and effective treatment.

I really hope you find some solace ( and some chuckles) here.

Your animal family are important reasons to continue with the daily fight, and they give back so much don't they?

As well as my two gorgeous cats, books and music are my sanity preservers.....as well as the OH, of course.

Here's hoping you can enjoy some better times ahead, and sending hugs.

Hello, Jackie. Welcome to the site. I'm sure you will find us helpful and supportive.

I retired after working for many years. I too was lost for quite a time. I missed my colleagues as much as the work itself. The illness made it more difficult for me to engage in some new activities. After a while though I did find a couple of classes that I enjoyed, and have developed new skills and found new friends.

It takes time. I mourned my job. It was like a bereavement. Be kind to yourself and don't be too dispirited. Look out for any classes or groups that tie in with your interests.

I hope things settle for you soon, and you find some benefits from retirement. You no longer have the health demands that work entails, so may feel the benefit physically.

Hope this might be of some help. Take care, Hilary
