I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best with your soya milk. I am the same as Lou1062. As I cannot have soya either and I am allergic to lactose so I have lactose free everything! x :)

I am sorry if I put a damper on this, but all or rather most soya is genetically modified and therefore in my book not to be touched.  What about rice milk or almond milk? Just food for thought!

Soya has a bad interaction with the thyroid gland, others who are more knowledgeable would be able to explain why, I would never touch the stuff particularly as said above most of it is Genetically modified, sorry.

Hi Misty,

If you have thyroid issues, or any sign of, then soya should be avoided as it blocks thyroid hormone absorption. Miso or fermented soya is ok, but not soya milk, tofu or soya flour that's added to a lot of foods.

Also the added vitamin D is D2, ergocalciferol, which is useless, & does not facilitate calcium absorption. I thought I was taking in >250% RDA of vit D, but had virtually none when my blood was tested due to reliance on expensive organic soya milk for 10 years, & no wonder I was so ill!

Our bodies need D from sunshine, but we can only get enough from about 30 minutes sunshine in summer.  Next best is D3, cholecalciferol, as well as magnesium & votamin K2 for bone health. If you're taking meds, or don't have a clean diet, then absorption can be affected, which reduces the volume of nutrients we absorb.

D3 is very very important for energy levels, bone formation, & general health, so maybe ask your GP to test you in case you need a D3 supplement.

I'm not dairy intolerant, so now I eat kefir every day for B12 & K2, made from fermented organic milk, & take a D3 supplement. The probiotic kefir culture eats up the lactose, so it could be something that's ok for dairy intolerant people, who have an issue with milk sugar. I've included a few links that might be of interest.
