I've been having a constant itch for about I don't know how long now but my left breast itches quite a lot and each time it itches it gets bigger. And only that breast gets bigger and is itchy. And I'm starting to get scared... Cancer?

I am so genuinely sorry to read this, and if there is the slightest chance of having cancer then you need to visit your GP as soon as possible and get a cancer check. Please do not delay as time is always paramount with this kind of issue. I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

I have pasted you an excerpt and a link from NHS Choices cache on this topic:

*Symptoms of breast cancer

The first symptom of breast cancer most women notice is a lump or an area of thickened tissue in their breast.

Most breast lumps (90%) aren't cancerous, but it's always best to have them checked by your doctor.

You should see your GP if you notice any of the following:

a lump or area of thickened tissue in either breast

a change in the size or shape of one or both breasts

discharge from either of your nipples (which may be streaked with blood)

a lump or swelling in either of your armpits

dimpling on the skin of your breasts

a rash on or around your nipple

a change in the appearance of your nipple, such as becoming sunken into your breast

Breast pain isn't usually a symptom of breast cancer.

*Excerpt from NHS Choices.

I was wondering if you have signed up with the right forum, as we are predominantly a Fibromyalgia forum and we also have members with ME and CFS and pain / fatigue related illness. If you are specifically looking for a cancer forum then the link that I have pasted below may be useful to you:

Hello ok1234, I get itchy across my breasts but neither of them swell.

I have had this itching for along time and am now perseveraning with treatment from the dermatologist-treatment is slow, hence perseverance needed.

I use an ice pack which takes the 'sting' out of the itching until the cream I have been prescribed starts to work.

I'm not sure how old you are but you may want to look at or think about menopause or peri menopausal symptoms.

Ken has signposted you to websites which have a wealth of information I'm sure you will find out more. Although nothing can replace a consultation with your GP or healthcare professional.

Good luck. Kind regards

Pea 👍

The only way you will find out is from a mammogram. Go to your GP or a walk in NHS centre TODAY!

Hi there. It probably is nothing to worry about but like our friends are saying, get it checked out. Whatever it is, the sooner you deal with it the better. Take care and all the best.

Please dont feel scared. I am a breast cancer survivor and i cant praise the NHS enough. Although I was an unlikely candidate and in initial scans my lump was not showing as cancer i was sent for an MRI which did confirm cancer together with the biopsy. I was treated very quickly by very skillful and caring people. Although i do not recognise your symptom in myself or the other people i met please go to your GP. The treatments are getting better survival rates are much higher. Take care of yourself.
