If I eat certain foods I have a reaction, my heart starts racing and I become exhausted and I have to fight to keep awake, as soon as I stop fighting that's it I'm waking up realising I have been asleep/unconcious, this is when I eat porridge or bran flakes. Does this happen to anybody else,?

Sorry you are suffering in this way. I would strongly suggest you see your GP, I have had similar reaction to several things, the last one was to a bean casserole beans and pulses were a huge part of my diet, not any longer though. I am seen at ENT allergy clinic. Do not ignore this. On a lighter note I haven't had to give up my lactose free chocolate, yet. Best Wishes. Lou x
I told the doctor and he didn't really seem interested, suggested taking any fruit/ honey off the cereal and see how it goes, I did made no difference so stopped eating it, last weekend decided to give porridge a go and see how it went and I went sleep/unconcious again. Doctors recommendations. Don't eat it. On another note if I drink any alcohol I start sneezing, eyes swell and water followed by a headache from hell. Now the worst thing possible my pain relief patches are making my skin go red and raised. Doctor gave me steroid cream to put on about a hour before applying the patch on creamed area, doesn't work. I think I'm going to be back to no pain relief as tramadol etc stripped my stomach and I was in agony/vomiting with oral meds.
Hi caroleb1960
I am so sorry to read that you are suffering in this way, and I would urge you to seek medical attention when this kind of thing happens. I have food allergies but I always avoid the stuff that I am allergic to after a particular incident many years ago. I ended up in hospital after eating soya and it was not pleasant, I had suffered an attack of urticaria M28, and since that day I avoid all foods that I cannot tolerate.
I want to wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself.
Al my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
Hi, I am currently researching an intolerance to Salicylate. This is found in so many foods, products we use daily. It's basically summed up by a lady whose written a book now after eliminating Salicylate from your diet etc, and then eventually you can reintroduce it again. The sad problem is it's not very publicised and virtually unknown about when u ask your GP's
Have a look I to it. It can hurt trying. My sister has referred me to it as both of my 2 sisters all have Fibro and live in immense pain. I've bought it on the Kindle today!! Y
Hi, thanks for your info. I have had a look about salicylate, which I had never heard of and some foods that do not contain salicylate are foods that are causing me problems so I think I can rule that out as the problem, though there are some foods on the list that do cause upset. Short of knowing and cross referencing ever ingredient in every item I'm stumped. Plus what I can tolerate one day I may not be able to eat the next. I am beginning to think my body is just attacking itself

My family have had a lifetime of food intolerance and I have a classically trained homeopath who uses a Vega machine and can test almost a thousand things. This machine has had bad press in the past as it was used by health food store by unqualified staff but I have used this method for over 30 years and my friends have too- with great success. No needles invlved and I pay £45 for an hours testing which can then be treated homeopathically,
