Rib and leg pain

Hi all

I'd like to ask if anyone else has had severe pain in the muscles betweet the ribs? Last time I had it (2 weeks ago) it lasted for 8 days.I couldn't do anything. It hurt to get a full breath. It took 10 minutes to get up from a settee because it hurt so much to move.It also hurt to touch my ribs, like a burning dull pain.Getting in and out of bed was horrific and both took a long time to do.I've never screamed so much in my life. The pain felt it was coming in waves like a contraction whenever I moved. Also I've started having a very weird sensation going down both legs after I walk a few steps. It feels like an adrenalin/weakness/draining feeling that starts from my bum cheeks and travels down both legs and leaves them all shaky and very weak!!!!Any ideas please??Thanks all xxxxxxx

nhs.uk/conditions/tietzes-s... Hi Hi Moddonna,

I have a condition called Tietez syndrome. It sounds familiar symptoms to what I feel. My doctor said its all part of fibro. Maybe check up with your doctor, (as I am no doctor) .

Above is a link to the NHS information page.

From your description it sounds more painful, but I am new to the condition.

Hope this helps, and you find some relief.

Helony x.

I couldn't get the link to work but found the spelling you gave is incorrect - it's Tietze. It is likely to be chostochondritis if there is no overall swelling, inflammation of the muscles around the ribs and is common with fibro. I get it really badly lots of days. x

Hi maddonna

I am so sorry to read that you are suffering in this way, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue. I am not a doctor so I cannot say for sure what is happening for you, it could be so many different things, so it really would be a good idea to discuss this with your GP.

I have pasted you a link below to a condition which I suffer from, and it matches what you described, so this is another possibility to go with Helony's link?

I want to wish you all the best of luck with finding the answers that you desire and deserve.

Yes I know what you're talking about, you just described my pain. Unfortunately I haven't found any relief for it, just grin & bear it. Gentle hugs xx Philomena.

Do you spend much time outside? If not, this could be osteomalacia (softening of the bones due to vitamin D deficiency).

I didn't go out much for about 10 years (joys of depression), which led to a severe deficit. My first symptom was a sharp pain in my ribs cauused by microfractures which didn't show on Xray. The pain was unbelievable, any touch made me scream and even strong painkillers had little effect. It is more usual to have pain in your legs first.

It took nearly a year to get a diagnosis but I was at the cutting edge and soon after the papers were full of stories about vit D. I've been left with overactive nerves (hence membership of this forum) - if you think this may be your problem, please insist on a blood test (my GP didn't order early on as other markers were normal). The most effective treatment is a vit D injection (it was out of stock when I needed it!); this is expensive but may save a lot of problems down the line.

Yes I also link to not getting in the sunlight enough, my GP says my Vitamin D level is good but a private blood test at the Spire Hospital interpreted the same result as being deficient. I take vit D supplement 800mg but much higher doses are recommended in the US. It's worth doing research into Vit D (Madonna, not you Michelle).
