A change is as good as a rest

Worried.

That I wont have paid in enough contributions to draw me O.A.P.

worried that I wont have the energy to kick up some dust.

For I am ageing at an alarm rate of late.

And I don't want to miss out on an important stage in age of man.

And this is just the inspiration I need in creating another me for a bit.

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple

With a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me,

And I shall spend my pension

on brandy and summer gloves

And satin sandals,

and say we've no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired,

And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells,

And run my stick along the public railings,

And make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain

And pick the flowers in other people's gardens,

And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat,

And eat three pounds of sausages at a go,

Or only bread and pickle for a week,

And hoard pens and pencils and beer mats

and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry,

And pay our rent and not swear in the street,

And set a good example for the children.

We will have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practise a little now?

So people who know me

are not too shocked and surprised,

When suddenly I am old

and start to wear purple!

I love it and often wear purple now, but unfortunatley I don`t own a red hat, Though maybe I could crochet one and a fluffy scarf to match. what do you think?

I have always always wanted to press an alarm bell. The closest I have come was being responsible for the whole school filing out onto the play ground after I burnt the cakes the children had made.

I was person non grata for a bit.

Do you have a hidden yen that you are too grown up to indulge in.

I am looking for playful here guys not deep and disturbing. Like badger baiting.

One place that I worked at had a sign on a big red button that said Don`t push. for 8 years I resisted. then they closed the place down while I was in hospital . so I never found out what it did.

Wish i had pushed it, then at least my curiosity would have been satisfied

I was at a wedding a few years ago, there was a great big rope hanging down in the entrance lobby and I really really wanted to pull it to see what it do. We weren't sure if it was the church bells, maybe I should go back and try it....I'm not a cat so I should be OK

Yes their is a red hat group. and on a piratical note have you done a pension forecast? Rules are changing so it might not be as bad as you think.

But I don't hold out much hope.
