Can you help by taking part in the Prescription Charges Coalition Survey? - Campaigning for free prescriptions for long term conditions

What’s New – The Prescription Charges Coalition of 29 charities and organisations of which we, FibroAction is a member has today launched a new short survey, to look at the ways in which prescription charges potentially impact the working lives of people in England with long-term conditions such as IBD.

This marks the newest phase in the Coalition’s campaigning work, which will see us call on all of the three main political parties to commit to ending prescription charges for people with long-term conditions in their election manifestoes. It follows the publication of the report 'Paying the Price' executive summary (PDF) in early 2013, following a wide ranging survey on this issue, which had nearly 4,000 responses.

Last year also saw over 3,000 people write to their MP to highlight the impact of prescription charges, a debate on prescription charges in the House of Commons and a mention of the Prescription Charges Coalition in the Scottish Health Minister’s address to SNP Conference.

Can you take a few minutes to complete the survey, if so please use the link below;

Many Thanks for reading :)

Me too. Aren't we lucky to get free prescriptions already! Mine would cost a fortune otherwise.

Done.

Isn't it iniquitous though. I get free scripts for my diabetes so I get all sorts of other meds too! They say 90% of scripts are free anyway, is it really worth the admin of collecting for the rest. Scotland thinks not. The main users are the under 16s and over 65s or whatever it is now! There are lots of people on low incomes who struggle to pay yet get none of this essential help.

The system's crazy. My husband gets free prescriptions now because of his diabetes, but he had to pay for them for 25 years despite having severe mental health problems. I pay for a pre-payment card which is well worth it if you take lots of tablets

Just done it !

Should add that I only asked the other day what a pre-payment would cost annually and was surprised it was £104.00 which for someone like myself who has a lot of medications, is quite a saving, nothing like as expensive as I expected.

Hello Foggy,

This is the only way I can afford my prescriptions by using the pre-payment certificate (PPC) otherwise the cost would be extortionate.

For anyone wishing to find our more about the PPC please see the link;

I personally fully support the Prescription Charges Coalition and I have completed the survey too.

Thank You to all who have completed and supported so far

Hi there, I'm just trying to work out money things because when I inherit from my fathers' estate I won't be eligible for any benefit, I think except for DLA, which I think I may still qualify for! I will have to check that one out.

Thank you for the link, very useful, you are so kind :-)
