I recently had a failed cycle where my embryo did not make it to blastocyst on day 5. I was desperate for this cycle to be successful.
I did everything I could, took ubiquinol, NAC, R-lipoic acid this time. I didn’t take any meds other than multivitamins in my first two cycles and those resulted in 2 euploid embryos. Although I lost one embryo last year when my FET failed.
I was absolutely devastated last week and was ready to give up but something in me said to give one last shot. I think probably my AMH dropped but doesn’t quality matter over quantity.
I have been looking for answers but I don’t know what went wrong.
Anyone with similar experience or inputs form their doctors as to why the embryo stopped growing on day 5. My clinic is rubbish and they just blame my age for everything.

Hi Shwet I'm so sorry this has happened. Our first IVF cycle with my wife's eggs we had nothing to transfer, and from my second cycle with my own eggs we only had one upgraded early blast which didn't stick. On our first round we saw a stat that said only 1 in 20 cycles doesn't end in transfer, but unfortunately I think the number is actually higher than this.
It's heartbreaking but there's still hope for you yet. I would have a good think about changing clinics. My current clinic is so much more thorough and supportive than my old one.
As for why it happened, sadly my consultant didn't have any good answers. He ruled out an egg quality issue as I'm "only 38". He put it down to bad luck and said that attrition is an inevitable part of IVF. Hoping someone else here can offer something more concrete for you.
