Very very low rising HCG.. unsure what to do

It is pretty much non-viable at this stage..

HCG levels at 10dpt - 42 / 14dpt - 57 / 18dpt - 69

The EPU are asking me to wait 2 weeks to take another HPT; has anyone had similar experiences and if so, what were the options?

Hey VeeVeeSo sorry you are on this part of this tough journey. I was the same pretty much last cycle low hcg and doubled to start but then stopped doubling at 21dp5dt. As soon as this happened I got referred to EPU where they did a scan and couldn't see anything in my uterus at that point I stopped my meds. Told the clinic and 4 days later started to bleed to pass the pregnancy.

Thanks Concievingblee. It sounds like scan lottery with the EPU. I am 20dpt today and they are refusing to scan me. They didnt scan me last time too and my HCG were in the thousands very early on.

Oh really that's a shame coming from a team that should be there supporting women in such a traumatic time. I've been quite lucky I think with both my Dr and The EPU team in Lincolnshire.I'd be kicking up a fuss though for sure. Good luck 💔

i had a similar experience to this (natural pregnancy ) and it turned out to be ectopic , ectopics generally follow a pattern of rising but not doubling so do make sure you keep on at them to keep checking incase. So sorry your going through this

Thanks treezuk, how was the ectopic managed? I'm so sorry you had to go through that; a friend of mine did too, ended up waiting in pain at A&E.. it sounds daunting and I really hope I don't have to add ectopic to my list of miscarriages..

Mine was managed my methadrexate as it was found in enough time that surgery wasn't needed but then i had to wait three months after that to ttc again.

I’m so sorry defo watch out for signs of eptopic but if it’s chemical my experience is that either bleeding starts and then test goes negative or test goes negative and then bleeding starts. My last loss (at 9 weeks) I had to stop meds though for it all to start so that could be a factor if you are on any hormones? Xx

Thanks Twiglet. I'm not sure how to watch out for it, I have started cramping so I hope the bleeding comes next. I stopped meds 2 days ago.

Shoulder tip pain and pain on one side are some of the signs of ectopic. But have a google of the others. I just keep testing until test goes negative tbh or when it doesn’t I got a scan about 6 weeks. But if you get any signs of ectopic and you are still getting a positive result on tests defo phone your EPU xx

Hey Sansan, they keep changing their minds about giving me a scan and I'm not sure why. First she told me they will do a scan if my HCG rises again on Tuesday, yesterday she phoned and first she said they don't do scans this early, then she said she will check with the consultant. The last phone call she said I could pay for a private one if I want peace of mind... but also said I could go in and sit and wait today to speak to a doctor. I have started cramping so hoping this will go away by itself..

it must be so stressful. How many weeks are you? don’t worry about the cramping…it could just mean the embryo is snuggling in. I can’t remember the rise in my hcg numbers because I told the clinic not to tell me but I know they were very low and very slow to rise.

I'm 5 weeks and 3 days today; my HCG numbers are definitely showing a non-viable pregnancy... I was hoping for a miracle, but the 4th reading confirmed the outcome for me.

I'm sorry. I've had two early losses and a pregnancy of unknown location/suspected ectopic at 10 weeks, all of them involved low or inconsistent rises in HCG. The EPU generally don't scan so early and the HCG is staying low indicating an early loss/little development and please don't take this the wrong way but hopefully means it will go on its own now you've stopped the meds. But you do need to keep an eye on it. It sounds like thw EPU will do HCGs again which is good. For now based on what I experienced, you can monitor it yourself if you are worried with a combination of at home urine pregnancy tests and/or getting HCGs done. When those show negative/hcg below 5 then you know it's gone, hopefully without complication. But if you haven't bled, or the urine test or HCGs haven't gone negative in a week/10 days, then the EPU may ask you to contact them so they can keep doing HCGs and/or a scan. You can also get a private scan done - that's how I knew about the PUL when it was too early for the EPU, but in that case my HCG was going up a lot and I didn't feel well at all so I knew it was different to the prior two losses which went on their own and I was a little further along (around 6/7 weeks). Things to watch out for are pain (usually in a specific location (including shoulder tip) or severe, not just cramps), temperature, chills/fever, vomiting, dizziness, very heavy bleeding, or just not feeling right in a way that is different to a heavy period. Have a look on the NHS website and online too to see any other symptoms and what to do. Contact your GP or call 111 (if in the UK) if you're worried.

Thanks MrsOrangejuice for taking the time to write that. I don't have any pain or symptoms, so hopefully it will resolve by itself. Sorry to hear about your losses, how quickly can you try again/do another transfer after the bleed?

It depends on your body and any complications. With mine I ovulated as normal soon after the bleed and had no complications so I was able to start the meds on the next natural period (had the withdrawal bleed, then started the meds on the next period, so around a month later). But I think quite a few women experience delays and slightly odd cycles for a couple of months after. I had a successful pregnancy the month after my second loss so please don't lose hope.
