Egg reserve

Hi all, thanks for all your support regarding my baseline scan. It was absolutely pain free and don't know why I was so worried.

Everything was good apart from my egg reserve appeared low for my age :-( I'm really concerned about this now as i'm only 31. They did an AMH blood tests but i feel like my body has failed me at the first hurdle.

Glad it was all good for you. What was your count in the end for you to think it's low? xx

I cant remember the exact numbers but I know she said they were low for my age, however my mum and nan had an early menopause so that could correlate with why they are lower than they should be?

Hi. Just to note that egg quality is so much more important than quantity. I carried out two cycles last year when I was 44. I had loads of eggs - but nothing to transfer, because they were all really crap quality! Even though your egg reserve might be on the lower side for your age, at 31, they should hopefully be pretty good quality. Wishing you the very best of luck x

Hi, sorry about the news you were not hoping for.About the AMH it's so odd, I had 31 pmol/L AMH when I was 29 and when I was repeating test when I was 31, so just 2 years later it was halved! I was so shocked, how from 31 it could dropped to 15.4 pmol/L while on the scan my follicles looked average for my age. I internally dissagree with such result and repeated it somewhere else and after 2 weeks and my result was 18 pmol/L not shockingly better but at least something. All this got me so confused how I could drop in just short time but they said that after we cross magic number 30 AMH starts to drop.

Which of course doesn't mean we can't get good results, but this way they know what kind of stimulation you might need, like with my first when my AMH was good I had stymulation with Bemfola and my 2nd time when AMH wasn't that good they used Gonal F saying that it will help with my eggs quality as well and after this stimulation I had more eggs and definitely more were mature and fertilised.

I was sure that when I have worse test results quality and amount would plummet but I've done much better. Comparing 1st round 21 retrieved, 10 donated, 11 for myself out of 11, 5 were mature, all fertilised but 1 was frozen at day 3, and 2 made it to blastocyst with 5Ab grade.

2nd round - 27 retrieved ( i knew that around 16 would be mature) , 13 donated, 14 for myself, 7 mature, all fertilised, 5 made it to day 5 blastocyst (2x 5Aa, 2x5Bb, 1x5Cb).

I hope it will give you some hope, I did all my best what I could to upgrade quality of my eggs before stimulation like good quality prenatal vitamins, Coq10, vitD etc, good luck!
