positive pregnancy test - natural !!

I’m in shock. Did a first response test this morning cycle day 23 and it’s positive. I don’t want to allow myself to get excited because of the huge odds of it being genetically abnormal and miscarrying 🙃 especially with the high levels of DNA frag.

I’m also worried it’s just going to delay treatment. I know that sounds so negative. I have a consultation with a Spanish clinic Tuesday and another with Greece early may. Do I just carry on ??

Will book a doctors appointment tomorrow. Any words of advice lovely people ? ❤️

edit: I also self diagnosed myself some progesterone support from about day 18 - taking half a cylogesy pessary (400mg full pessary) so approx 200mg morning and evening. Will obviously be telling dr.

Gentle congrats and wishing you well, I know it's an anxious time. (Think you've accidentally posted this twice so may be worth deleting the other one so it doesn't end up confusing) x

Congratulations, amazing news. First response tests never disappoints. Yes definitely try and get hcg blood test at your GP surgery. Go ahead with the consultations - for info only especially if they are free. Otherwise I would cancel because it's rare to get false positive on first response pregnancy tests. Wishing you a healthy pregnancy xx

It’s such a positive don’t let your hormones tell you otherwise :) treatment is always available but the gods will alternately decide ❤️ send baby dust, your time is now! Thanks so much. Just don’t quite believe it and can’t get excited. Think I’ll be nervous for at least 6 months 😂 I did some reading on progesterone support and thought ‘why not’ as I suspected my progesterone was out on my last transfer. Obviously nhs didn’t test! You can take it past ovulation if you are low. I don’t think it will do much harm apart from I’ve just read bellow on the Tommys site.

Good luck with the next round !!! 🩷💛

‘What if I have a miscarriage after taking progesterone?

Some people have told us they are worried that if they did have a miscarriage, the progesterone would stop any miscarriage symptoms and lead to a missed miscarriage. We don’t know if this is the case at the moment. Our researchers should have an answer soon.

Even if this is the case, most people would probably decide that they would still rather take progesterone and reduce the risk of having a miscarriage at all. ‘

This is great news! I know it’s a naturally anxious time, but remember that the statistics are now in your favour.

This forum makes us acutely aware that there are lots of things that could go wrong, and lots of us have been in those situations, but statistically there is a higher chance of a live birth now than not. Good luck x

Lovely news! Crossing fingers for you! I’d advise against HCG bloods unless something happens to cause concern. I’ve been in HCG hell and I don’t see the point. Just enjoy it. They often just generate more anxiety.

Cuppppatea I wanted to add that I personally would go ahead with the consultations if they are free initial calls. I really hope you don't need any fertility clinic in the future. However, it's better to be proactive and prepared especially with fertility. In case you need any support ( I really hope no) you have already done this first call and checked how these clinics come across, what they offer, how you feel about them. It's such a delicate process and this will save some time and give you guidance if anything is needed in the future. That's my advice.

In the meantime, take care and ring the gp for the blood test 💖. Best wishes !

If you don't mind, I will DM you about the clinic in Greece. I had my first round there, and I am curious about which clinic you were looking at.

Congratulations!!! Sending positive vibes your way! Totally understand the not getting excited but make sure you are thinking positive 💪🏻

I’d keep the clinic appts of they are the initial ones just as a back up in case there’s a long wait to rebook. Unless you ask if you can rebook them now?

Firstly congratulations. The day before my 44th birthday which also happened to be three days before we were due to start the process of having a donor egg conceived embryo transferred I found out I was pregnant. Because of my experience (I’d had two previous miscarriages) and my age I thought it would result in another loss. However I am sat here writing this message with my fourteen month old in my son in my lap. Miracles can happen. The fact you’ve got pregnant naturally is a very good sign. Just take things one step at a time. I know that’s easier said than done. I wish you the best of luck. X

Sorry to hear you went through that before your son. Miscarriage is what I’m worried about. How far along were you ? X

Beacon78 in reply to Cuppppatea

First time I found at 11 weeks that I had miscarried at 5.5 weeks and the second time there was no heartbeat at my 8 week scan. Both were missed miscarriages.

Re: progesterone, with my successful pregnancy I took progesterone. I got my GP to prescribe this as there has been a recent study which recommends this if a woman has had a previous miscarriage or bleeding early in pregnancy.

I really hope everything works out for you. X

I’ve seen your posts in the past few months and it made me so happy to see this one from today. Not only that, but it gives me hope for me! Good luck and hope that it sticks all the way!

Congrats!! I'd keep the apps, if they are free!

I did the same thing as you! Took some left over cyclogest in Jan about 3/4DPO which helped get me pregnant (I'd done a proov test the cycle before which showed my progesterone didn't get high enough to support a pregnancy). Sadly it still ended in miscarriage but it won't delay anything if things didn't go to planned, it's just support! Got all my fingers and toes crossed for you x

Would it not delay your period ? I couldn’t get hold of the dr today and wondering if I should do full 200 pessary now instead or chopping in half.

Esb27 profile image
Esb27 in reply to Cuppppatea

Oh yeah it would delay a period but if you’ve got a positive test then you won’t get your period anyways! Yeah I would do a full one so you’re doing two a day, to support the little bean. I’m not a doctor but that’s just what I would do anyways. Good luck!! :)

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the well wishes!

Still total shock and worry for if its going to work out.

Last month while trying to choose a clinic I visited Create for a Doppler Ultrasound - they detected blood resistance in uterine arteries / sub optimal blood flow to womb. I know asprin is used and sometimes Clexenne.

Any advice so welcome!

I have spoken to Dr but not really getting any help....

Congratulations 🎊! And Yes I was on Aspirin 150mg and Clexane 40mg once a day from start till end for the same issue. Aspirin is available over the counter. Good luck!
