Medicated IUI, LH Surge

Hello, it's my first post. I've been trying to conceive my first baby for a couple years now, over 16 months of trying. I am in a same sex couple. No medical issues, although at my 4th tracking scan they found a cyst on my ovary but they've told me it shouldn't affect anything. I am on my 3rd iui, 2nd medicated one with Letrozole and trigger. We had the insem on the 10th April and this time round I decided to track the hcg and LH for curiousity.

My question/worry is today I am getting bold positive opks, and I have for the past 2/3 days, but worry this one is my peak two days after the iui :( is this normal? Will it be because of the hcg trigger in my system? Its got me a little deflated that the hospitals inseminate ld early :(

Hi Keels. Try not to worry too much about this, as once inseninated, the sperm should live for four days, so will be waiting. Hopefully all will go well, but if not, have your Fallopian tubes been checked properly. Good luck. Diane

Hello Diane, thank you for the response. I had subfertility tests (scans and hsg) 2 years ago which they said were clear. I am on the waitlist at Ninewells for donor insemination but in the meantime we choose to fund 3 rounds. I am on round 3 :( I had a private internal scan in February that came back normal, but couldn't find left ovary. Tracking scan 1 was normal but couldn't locate left ovary properly again. And I've just had tracking scan 2 on Monday and they are saying the left ovary has a 5cm dermoid cyst filling the whole cavity. Other than that I've been told everything's normal. Regular periods to. Just worried that because I decided this month I'd try out testing my LH/HCG and seen a very obvious dark line that I've potentially inseminated to early :(

Hi. Well you’ve been properly checked out, but you may find that if you’re only working with one ovary, they may push you for IVF, and get rid of the nasty dermoid cyst. So sorry you have all this extra to put up with. Thinking of you. Diane

hi 👋🏼 if medicated IUI they will have timed this and taken over your cycle so should be fine, especially if they have triggered you with HCG. also as Diane says the sperm lives for 4-5 days. I have also had cysts come and go with an n ovaries sometimes but as long as your bloods are showing it isn’t affecting anything it should be fine. Good luck for this round! As a same sex couple with also no reason treatment shouldn’t work that’s been on this road since 2017 (with success in 2020 and now trying for a sibling) it can feel really long road so if you have any questions etc or feel like a moan happy to hear them 🤗💜
