Good morning all,So I had my fresh transfer last Monday and today I'm 8dp5dt and as I've been having a bit of a wobble I wanted to do a pregnancy blood test a bit earlier. My OTD is Friday so I was hoping to do the blood test on Wednesday (this was an option at my previous IVF clinic). Just called my current clinic and they said they don't normally do pregnancy blood tests and if I did want one I would only be able to have it on my OTD and I would need to pay for it myself. As my OTD is a Friday, I very much doubt they will give me an answer by end of Friday (this is going from previous experience recently when I had a progesterone blood test done which they said would be same day results and it wasn't). I will then spend the weekend in an absolute mess waiting for my clinic to reopen on Monday. I would like to avoid this if possible!
I'm so torn on what to do. Do I just do a urine pregnancy test on Friday (maybe I buy a few different brands) and just accept that result whatever it is? I guess I'm so worried they will be false negatives and then I stop the pessaries over the weekend and my period starts. Am I overthinking this??

If my math is correct, Friday will be 12dp transfer for you. You should get a positive test by then as it would be past the time when your period would be due.
That said, if you can afford a private blood test & you think it would put your mind at rest, then you could see if there are other places offering this in your area. I use a private GP near me for mine.
Hello, I would say buy digital clear blue test and buy one normal test, when you can see two lines. I did my test day 10 and was super positive so until Friday definitely you not gonna have false positive. If you are pregnant just enjoy you are , and don't try to find any reason why wouldn't be.
I'm doing my treatment abroad and my clinic only accepts blood tests. Personally I don't trust urin tests and I had it before where by betaHCG was positive and urin test from the same day was negative (I just wanted to see a doble line for my own enjoyment and was a BFN even though beta was continuing to rise, so I was defo pregnant). I'm doing my treatment private, so I guess the clinic recommends what gives them most clarity rather then what's the cheapest way. I would say do the beta test with any clinic for your own piece of mind this Friday(doesn't have to be yours). I did my beta with a cheap private GP surgery in London, very quick turnaround, and sent my results back to my clinic. I gave my blood sample at 10am and got results at 4pm. Fingers crossed for a BFP!!!!
By OTD a urine test should be reliable but depends on the brand, and they can cause a lot of stress. Really betas are the only definite way to know but clinics are reluctant to do them - my NHS one said they don't because they're not trained how to interpet the results(!) and my private one has only just started offering. So I've had them done by my GP or through an online company (but with the latter there is still a wait to get the test, then for it to arrive at lab). You can get same day I think if you go private and pay a bit more, just depends on how much you want to know. Plus if you have one, then to check progress you generally get a second a couple of days later. I guess you could get one private/GP earlier this week, so you know, then through your clinic and that would give you the two to compare?
My clinic don't offer blood tests at all. They just tell you to do a urine test on otd. I would recommend first response tests. I used some cheap strip tests and they showed really faint positives, but the First Response ones were much darker. I think they're pretty accurate as I took about 10 tests in total and they all showed the same result! 😂
Definitely keep going with the meds until your clinic tells you to stop. Good luck!! 🤞
