EMBRYO GLUE

Hi was wondering if anyone has used embryo glue and what is people's opinion and/or advice on it?Our clinic is doing trials with it for free for patients that has had 1 or more failed transfers which applies to us.

Thank you for posting this! I’m about to start a DE cycle next week, and EmbryoGlue is included in my treatment package. I need to do some proper research, but I am very divided on whether to use it or not! Looking forward to the responses…

Hi, it is included at my clinic, so have used it in 4 transfers. I had successful implantation with the first three and am in my 2ww for the fourth. One luckily resulted in my daughter, two early miscarriages. I was 40 at egg collection and didn’t test the embryos, so likely that they were abnormal. Not sure if the embryo glue helped or not, but the HFEA rate it as amber, meaning not enough clear evidence but might help some people. Good luck

my clinic use it as standard but my friend just got a bfn from the same clinic my transfer is next week. The increased chance is only about 5% but I wouldn’t not have it.

I used it first transfer and sadly didn’t work. Both clinics I used include it as standard. Good luck x

I’ve used it for several transfers and it only worked with one. This obviously could just be a coincidence as it was also a good quality embryo. It was included in the price but not sure I’d pay extra for it. Not enough evidence, as with everything IVF related (!!) for me to pay for it. Good luck xx

I’m sure it was a coincidence but we used embryo glue for our successful pregnancy. We had to pay extra for it but decided to throw everything at it!

My clinic used it as standard, I got a BFP on my third transfer. I think it’s so hard to tell with these things as there are too many variables. I’ve not done enough research to know if it has a negative impact but if it does not, I guess you have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Good luck x

Hi there. My clinic uses Embryo glue for every transfer. I've had 3 failed transfers so far. That's not to say it doesn't work as that was probably down to the embryos themselves. Maybe if the embryo is the golden one it does give it a helping hand. My clinic is NHS funded too so if it's being used at NHS clinics with the extra costs then surely it has some benefits! X

I’ve had embryo glue for both my transfers - first was unsuccessful and second worked. No idea if the embryo glue helped or not but I figured it can’t do any harm so worth a shot.

I don’t think there’s enough evidence to say it defo helps but I’ve seen no evidence in my research that it hinders in any way. The one that worked for my friends is when they used this so if it was going for free I would defo try it as I don’t think there’s any detriment? You could maybe ask your clinic about any negatives that they know of? Xx

My private clinic use it as standard on FETs - first one was successful, second one was BFN, so it's not guaranteed to work but equally didn't do any harm. My clinic don't charge for it and you can opt out. The blurb they gave me said there's not much evidence that it works but a small chance it helps (and doesn't do any harm) so I was happy having it.

I used it on 2 of my transfers and it didn't work. But the embryos weren't tested, I got a chemical on the transfer I didn't use it, which wasn't tested either so it's difficult to say really.

my clinic uses it as standard in all their FET transfers. It’s a misleading term ‘glue’ as it isn’t a glue as such but a substance e that mimics the body’s when an embryo snuggles into the lining. It just gives it a helping hand. It must be ok as both my 2 transfers took and 2 live births. Good luck to you x

My clinic was planning to use it for my DE FET but because the embryo was already ‘hatching’ at the time of transfer, they decided it wasn’t needed. They said they only use it if they feel the embryo needs a helping hand.
