Hi ladies,

I hope this post isn’t difficult to read. I’ve always found reading people’s updates helped me to stay positive and feel that’s it’s possible for me. My last transfer was successful and I’ve reached the three month stage. Obviously there is still a long way to go but I wanted to post my protocol/steps I took in case it helps anyone.

1st transfer: 5AA untested embryo transferred. Standard protocol of estrogen patches and tablets and progesterone. Chemical.

2nd transfer: 5AA PGTA euploid embryo transferred. Same protocol as above. BFN.

Hysteroscopy found all normal. Mild-moderate adenmyosis (no symptoms experienced). Blood tests such as prolactin, TSH all normal.

3rd transfer: 5AA euploid embryo, 2.5 weeks of buserline to down reg (advised to suppress adenmyosis), estrogen patches/tablets, blood thinner injections, progestrone injections (lubion) and pessaries, steroids from transfer day for about a week. BFN.

Clinic advised Emma/Era/Alice test and down reg of two months to suppress adenmyosis. Lost faith in the clinic (lack of continuity of consultants/felt as if no one was reviewing our case properly and making recommendations that didn’t really make sense to me).

Took three months out to research and get second opinions. Consultation with Dr Brosens at Warwick Implantation clinic, separate scan to get an opinion on adenmyosis, a few more consultations with recommended doctors. Made the decision to move clinics to where there is continuity of doctor and during the consultation felt that someone was reviewing our case properly and our personal circumstances. Best decision ever. A wonderful clinic that like chalk and cheese from previous clinic.

4th transfer: natural transfer. Did weekly accupuncture for two months prior to the transfer, cut out caffeine and alcohol, eating generally well. Allowed my body to go back to its natural rhythm after the last intense transfer before doing a new transfer. Timed transfer with natural ovulation and just used progesterone support. Untested 4BB and 4BC embryos transferred. BFP.

May I please ask about the Warwick clinic is this Tommy’s or private? How do you get referred to it ? I had a MMC and I’m having review appointment next week , feeling I’ve been left with just a big question mark about what could have happened as we didn’t test the embryos.

Next steps would be a FET, I’m interested is having a natural one as I’ve never been on the pill so trying to stay away from this , did you have to do a lot of extra things to calculate the timing for the transfer ?

Thank you I actually just had a consultation with Warwick and just booked it in myself privately. If you go ahead with their tests you can self-refer privately. I don’t know about whether Tommy’s have an option.

For the natural I just used the clear blue ovulation tests at home and the clinic bought me in for scans somewhere around 8 days in my cycle and then based on that scan, decided when else to call me in. I found the tracking part quite easy. I also started just tracking it myself a few cycles before the transfer so that I got to know my genera ovulation cycle so I could do some tentative planning. I really found the natural transfer a breeze and breath of fresh air after all the medication I took on the third transfer. I also found the accupuncture really helped with getting the lining at a good place and the follicles growing well. Hope this helps. Xx

Hi  Hopewhite I have recently been seen at Warwick too. It’s a Tommy’s research clinic but is self funded (implantation clinic, where they do the digital endometrial function test, dEFT). You can self-refer, just call them up/send an email to request an initial consultation (£160) and then the dEFT is £700 done at a certain point of your cycle. Def worth discussing with your doctor. I went for it to better understand my recurrent chemical pregnancies and implantation failures. Happy to DM if you’d like more info. Xx
