2nd frozen embryo transfer at 41yrs, endometriosis, under active thyroid, success stories needed!

Hi all,

We’re about to have our 2nd FET at the beginning of September, I’ve had the Prostap injection and my first scan is tomorrow which afterwards I’ll start the estrogen tablets and then the progesterone pessaries.

I had Endometriosis quite a few years ago and my pelvis was ‘frozen’ where all of my organs were stuck together, they had to remove my left fallopian tube and found my right was blocked, so IVF is the only way I’d get pregnant.

I had a successful fresh cycle in 2017 with my daughter, which worked first time. Naively I thought this time would be the same…. Clearly not!

Had fresh cycle in January and they took 28 eggs (I was over stimulated and borderline OSHH) 18 fertilised and 6 went to blasto day 5.

I had a failed fresh transfer in Jan, and failed Frozen transfer in May. My eggs are all high grading of 4AA and 5AA (had 6 eggs frozen). For each transfer my lining has been 11mm and 13mm so on paper the perfect transfer situation, however both times I’ve had BFN.

I have an under active thyroid and have had to fight with my consultant to get my tablets increased as my FSH was 4.6 which is borderline under active and for IVF it needs to be at least 3.

I am 41yrs nearly 42yrs which I know drastically minimises the chances.

I don’t know what else I can do this time for it to work? I don’t understand why it’s not working or what I can do to help it work?

Has anyone got any success stories to keep me positive?

Is anyone else going through a FET now?

Thanks all for reading 🙏

Hi love, yes I've just done FET yesterday (see my post, it was a bit of a palava).I can see what a journey you're on and huge congrats on your daughter first time round.

Are you transferring embryos from a previous round or doing fresh?

Your stats do look amazing. The fact that you get plenty of eggs and have good womb lining suggests it's a matter of keep going and hopefully you'll finally get the golden embryo. Of course there are personal and financial limits to our available resources. Have you thought about genetically testing embryos before transfe?

Sounds like you're doing really well being on your consultant for thyroid meds. What other meds are you on for 2ww?

Love and hope

Thank you magda22 for your reply, this is what’s so frustrating as everything looks great but it’s just not happening. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions this year for sure!!

They are my eggs from the fresh cycle in Jan so not from when I had my daughter unfortunately.

I’m only on levo thyroxin for my thyroid, and then after my scan tomorrow I’ll be on the oestrogen tablets (2 per day for 2 days then 3 per day thereafter) then progesterone pessaries. I think transfer day will be 5th September at the moment all being well 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Thank you for your kind words, trying to stay positive!!

Hiya, I would recommend seeing an endocrinologist about your thyroid and doing a full Thyroid panel to look at your T3, T4 and Thyroid antibodies. I did mine on monitor my health and have a referral from GP. Also check your vitamin D levels. You could also check for food intolerance as endo is inflammatory. I have endometriosis and underactive thyroid, my clinic recommends a TSH under two, they recommend no major changes in thyroid medication 6 weeks bbefore a transfer. It took us three transfers to get pregnant, we then had a miscarriage and had our daughter on our fourth transfer. I think with endo and thyroid issues it often takes longer. Focus on gut health, I take NUA fertility supplements, good quality cod liver oil, tumeric and co-q10. Good luck x
