Just wondering if anyone has try taking buscopan before an embryo transfer? The reason behind it being to reduce uterine contractions. My worry with this, though, is, will it Relax my muscles too much and give me the poops lol.Just wondered what dose you took, how many times a day and what kind as there are different ones? And for how long.

Buscopan for transfer
I used it for both of my successful transfers. Buscopan won’t give you diarrhoea, in fact it’s more likely to cause constipation. I took 20mg 30 mins before transfer then 10mg twice a day for 3-4 days. The buscopan you can buy is actually all the same, it is just the package insert is slightly different depending on who it’s aimed at. They should all be 10mg hyoscine butylbromide Xx
So you weren't taking it after positive test? You just took for few days?
Correct. Buscopan is not supposed to be taken once you are pregnant but taking it for a few days after transfer before implantation is properly established is OK. The idea is it that it is antispasmodic and so it quiets down the uterus to prevent the embryo being ejected by uterine spasming post transfer. xx
Thanks so tgat was doctors advise for just few days and not til test day or after? Thanks
It was not on a doctor's advice - I looked into using buscopan after reading case reports on success with buscopan for failed implantation and also the effects of abnormal uterine peristalsis on fertility (which bucopan might be able to help with). I should add I have a medical background as well as a PhD so was comfortable reading original research papers and going 'rogue' with my own care, so to speak. xx
Thanks most people I've asked did same and didn't continue after positive test but a couple have said were on it til 8 weeks. Nightmare knowing what's right/wrong x
I used it. I can't remember the dose and I have to admit this was on my own research that I discovered this.xxx
When did you start and stop? Were u still on it after a positive test? Thanks
No, I started a few days before transfer and continued for a few days after. It was really as the consultant felt my uterus may be contracting and preventing implantation.xx
Hi Flora. You must speak to your specialist before use. Diane
Interesting reading your post.My clinic did a contractions scan prior to my transfer to check for uterine contractions and said that it would be easily treated with medication better transfer if there were issues - which there weren’t. Not seen any other posts about this issue!
