Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has received wildly different AMH scores and worked out what was driving it and therefore which one to believe?
Back in January I stared investigations with a private clinic and was tested in their London lab. My AMH test came back as 6.2 pmol/l. I was told this was low for my age (33) but explained by the fact i had very short (19 day) cycles and therefore my egg supply was being used up quicker - this made sense to me. I had been taking a lot of vitamins (incl B vits and low level biotin) which i’ve read can influence results, but i don’t think it will be a big impact. This was just over 3 months after stopping the combined oral contraceptive pill.
5 months later this June, I tested via medichecks and the result came back as 46.7 pmol/l! This test was done during a medicated treatment cycle (letrozole + HCG shot + Progesterone pessaries) but i was told this should not skew results.
Both tests are apparently in pmol/l but naturally done on different dates by different providers.
Next step will certainly be to re-test. I have been encouraged to start IVF and egg bank sooner rather than later due to the low AMH and i’m aware the AMH score will influence the level of medication i’m given. I’m the kind of person who lives having a plan to help deal with all the uncertainty surrounding fertility treatment, so this has thrown me a bit.
Any thoughts on why they may be so different?
In any case, not an urgent Q. I know I will have to be patient and wait for a third test! x
