Blood tests results after miscarriage - high level of vitamin B12 and low APPT

Hi All,

I had blood tests done after miscarriage in December and all seems to be ok apart from high level vitamin B12 - 1416 (range 211-911) and low APPT - 27.3 (range 28-34).

I don’t have a consultation to discuss this until 1st February and got the results only because clinic has provided scans of my notes, which I recently requested. I can’t stop googling and worrying there might be an underlying issue with such high vitamin B12. I am currently taking pregnacare conception which have 20ug of it, not sure if that could cause such a high level and should stop taking it.

I have been also told that will be sent for a hysteroscopy but there is 4-8 weeks wait through NHS and not sure if that’s worth waiting until this is done before starting another IVF private round (so far had 5 transfers - 1 TDMR, 2 BFN, 1 chemical and 1 miscarriage).

I would appreciate if anyone could provide some advise 🙏

hi- i’m very sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

I’m no expert but just wanted to share my experience. I did a thyroid and vitamin test recently with medichecks and it said you had to stop all B12 supplements a week before testing or it could give false results. I stopped my b12 but I didn’t realise there was some in my multivitamin. My B12 result came back high but I’m not worried as presume it was due to taking the multivitamins the day before. Could be the same for you? Xx

Hi Jane, thank you for your reply. I have not been told to stop anything so possibly that’s why the level was so high xx
