2 failed blastocyst transfers... hope Please

hello lovely members

We have now had 2 failed transfers of top quality day 5 blastocysts, 1 hatching.1 x fresh and 1 x frozen (natural). We have MFI and nothing wrong found with me yet.

we are lucky to have a few remaining embryos of lower quality. I suppose I am looking for any positive stories of failed good quality embryos then success with lower quality ones? As it is hard to keep positive. Thankyou all so much

Hi love. I had success on my fourth try despite the first 3 embryos being better grading. Currently 12 weeks pregnant so still a loooong way to go but much further than I’ve ever got before. Apparently the embryo grading is a really inexact science and too much weight shouldn’t be put on it. You’ll read lots of stories on here of people getting pregnant with their “worst” embryo. Best of luck for your next attempt, it’s such a rubbish thing to have to go through time and again, but I hope you get there x

Hi Claire, thankyou for this - and congratulations, I have my fingers crossed for a healthy pregnancy for you 🤞May I ask, did your clinic do any additional testing for you or did they put it down to likely problems with the embryo/numbers game?

Not until I’d had 3 failed attempts. We ended up changing clinics as we’d moved house. And the new clinic did a hysteroscopy and NK cell biopsy. I ended up taking steroids and extra progesterone for this round. But who knows if it was that or just the right embryo that made the difference. It all feels like a bit of a lottery x

Hey I’m sorry the first 2 goes haven’t worked I know it can make you feel like it might never will! For a success story it was our 4th best embryo that was our miracle with a frozen transfer after a failed fresh (perfect embryo) and a failed frozen (double) transfer. Nothing different in protocol just that little bit of luck that’s needed. Sending some to you xx 😘

Thankyou Twiglet2! It is hard to keep positive when I know so many people for whom IVF worked straight away. Really glad it worked out for you, fingers crossed for the next one 🤞

Hi,

I have a positive story and started off similar to you. I had to transfers one fresh (negative OTD) and one FET (chemical prrgnancy) both were graded the highest day 5 1:1 hatching. My 3rd transfer transfer 2nd FET with a lower grade day 5 (2:2) the embryologist even said it wasn't as 'pretty' as the first two is now my 5 month old. I've decided not to focus on the quality as embryologist said its a beauty contest. Fingers crossed for your next transfer X

Hi, I had 3 failed ivf cycles over 4 years of trying my eggs were average grades each time, I had 7 transfers out of all the eggs but none never stuck. We booked to go to an abroad clinic last October but then found out I was pregnant naturally 4 days before flying. Couldn’t quite believe it. Never give up hope is my point to my message xx

Hiya, I share this story a lot so apologies if you have seen it already, but I have two friends who had a LOT of transfers. One transferred her top embryos and threw everything at it (steroids, scratch etc) transfers 1-6 and always got BFNs despite some 'top quality blasts'. After 6 transfers she had 3 embryos left and they were the very worst quality of all of them so she almost gave up. However her consultant told her it was sometimes luck so she transferred 2 for her 7th transfer with no bells and whistles at all and one stuck and he is 4 this year. She then tried her last and worst embryo a few years later and she is nearly 2!! Another friend had 9 transfers and number 9 is now 5, she then had a miracle natural pregnancy (never happened in 8 years) a year later 'by mistake' and she is now 3

It can happen, and sometimes it really is just crappy luck. Heaps of luck xx

Thanks so much DaisyI've done some research and it looks like there isn't a huge amount of evidence for a lot of the treatments for recurrent implantation failure. Will ask our consultant at our follow up. These stories do give me hope though! Have been following your story and crossing all my fingers for your pregnancy 🤞🤞 xxx
