I know this is (hopefully) probably a silly question but I had my FET on 12th July and I keep worrying that this heatwave is going to affect the chances of success. I live in London and it was over 30 degreesC on transfer day and forecast to get to 38 degrees (!) by next Tuesday.
I read somewhere (thanks google) that extreme heat does have a negative impact. Am I right to worry? Thanks all. TWW + heatwave is sending me mad!
I was wondering the same, I had a fresh transfer on Wednesday and they told me not to raise my core body temperature which is nigh on impossible at the moment!
Yeah it seemed ridiculous to tell me to avoid extreme heat as I walked out of the clinic to 35 degree heat and humidity! Also not being able to go swimming this week really sucks, no way to cool down! I'm glad I'm not alone worrying about it anyway. Not much we can do other than keep hydrated and sit in front of a fan all day!
Good luck with your test day! It's not a silly question, this process makes you question everything. There are so many women getting pregnant naturally and with ivf in hot countries like Spain, Turkey etc, so I don't think it's an issue. Keep hydrated! I hope all goes well
Well said. I am from Brazil a very hot country and millions women get pregnant on the Carnival that is a summer naked party 😂 the most hot 🔥. None of them get trouble with they pregnancy. And what drives me to another dimension is the African women they don't have pure and clean water, they don't have any healthy and variety foods, they not even go see a Dr. And they still getting pregnant and having healthy babies. So I think having a baby is more about emotional than physical at all.
I feel offended by your comments, the women that live in Africa (not "African women") do have fresh and healthy food. They have fruits that grow on trees, freshly slaughtered animals and less processed food like we have in the West. They do have access to doctors and healthcare.
Regardless, hopefully the heat we get, won't affect ButtercupGarden, good luck with everything!

Stay as cool as it is possible I think that is all you can do but for me I seem to have a better outcome in the summer months than the winter months personally and on the plus side you don’t have to worry about keeping your feet warm! All the best of luck x
Your body has its own inbuilt cooling mechanisms, so it's only if you get heatstroke that your body temp is going to go up significantly. Also, it may be extreme heat for us but not for many/most other areas of the world, and only more affluent places have air-con. My friends in the US and Aus think it's hilarious we're worried about 38C (not knocking it - I'm dreading it too!) xx
They laugh but they all have aircon and houses that are built for hot climates! I'm melting in my Victorian semi in London and it isn't even that hot today! But thank you, you make total sense, I'm just freaking out!
I get it, completely. Cold water bottles and damp facecloths laid over your chest/tummy, esp with a fan blowing on you, really help. Good luck! Xx

So nice too see so many of us in the same 2ww - I too had transfer on Wednesday 13th 2day transfer of two embryos.
The heat has been a worry to me as I love sitting in it and worry id not notice it being too much, so I'm just not going to sit longer than 30 mins at a time and if I'm reading and relaxing then surely thats good for my mind and body (Vic D of course).
I work under a glass roof (an outdoor undercover market) and when the BBC says 25 degrees our thermometer says 42!!! So I am closing up sunday monday Tuesday, cant risk the greenhouse vibes and taking myself to the countryside for fresh air and breeze.
I hope you find a balance that suits you - just don't put yourself in any unnecessary stress including over heating(!), a walk in a forrest (not sure where you are in London but sure you can find a tree lined park) get a fan on and windows opened (apparently not the south facing windows).

Ladies - please don’t worry!! You just need to be sensible. Don’t sit out and sunbathe for hours. But stepping outside for a bit is fine. Sitting in the shade is fine.
Your body is clever. It can regulate your temperature and keep it in the normal range despite external heat.
Keep well hydrated and cool when you can. Ice lollies, feet in a paddling pool, cold drinks, anything!

I have a frozen transfer on Tuesday in London so this is also worrying me. Also worried clinic staff may not be able to get in with cancelled trains etc, or may have to cancel if the clinic gets too hot. Fingers crossed it's all okay. I'll be keeping my feet in a tub of cold water or something!
I'm also working the next day in a non-air conditioned hospital, but thankfully forecast for Wednesday is a bit cooler.
I hope it all goes well! Hopefully it will all be fine and the papers have just been making everyone worry about the trains etc!
I didn't have a warm shower for the whole of my first pregnancy and stayed in the shade the whole of a holiday in early pregnancy as I was worried over heat, I also wouldn't go near our cats or listen to the radio, like it would cause me to loose the baby 🤷🏻♀️ Second time around I just remind myself that plenty of women get pregnant and stay pregnant in in hot countries, I have warm showers! I cuddle my little naked cats and I listen to kiss fm!...and I'm still pregnant. I think that as long as your not putting oil on and baking in the sun and just being generally sensible, you don't have to worry about the heat ❤️😘
