Feeling so gutted. Just had an egg retrieval Saturday AM. 17 collected, 13 mature, only 7 fertilized with ICSI. Not super hopeful we will end up with too many blasts for freezing, and then they’re getting shipped for testing. I’ve had 3 failed transfers previously so the odds are just looking so slim for us. Not sure if we have anymore egg retrievals left in our emotional, physical and financial reserves Any insight in low fertilization rates?

I think it’s a matter of perspective - I was super excited that 5 out of the 9 collected were mature and 4 fertilized and eventually 3 made it to day 6. I still think the odds aren’t too bad for you. Mind you I didn’t do genetic testing because I was afraid of finding out if they wouldn’t be normal and my clinic wasn’t pushing for it either.
I think these fertilisation rates are pretty normal, I wouldn’t be too disappointed 7 embryos could very easily provide a good haul of blastos. Remember it’s quality not quantity. Good luck x
24 follicles, 16 collected, 9 mature, 3 fertilised, chemical with the fresh transfer, 2 year old from the first frostie and 29 weeks cooking with the third, sit tight, you never know how lucky this round going to be..... 🤷🏻♀️😘🤞🏼🍀
It’s so draining, but you’re fighting through. Wishing you all the best with the next stage xx
I also had 17 eggs collected, 11 mature which were fertilized by ICSI and ended up with only 3 blasts! We put 2 back and now I am 36 weeks pregnant with twins!!!!!!!
I had 2 out of 12 make it and I’m currently 8 months pregnant xx
thats actually quite good number, we had same number fertilise and one made it to blast. my SIL just had 2 eggs collected, both fertilised both transferred and one has taken. i think that rate is pretty standard, hang in there x
I did icsi 4 times due to very poor male infertility. Each time I'd get around 20 eggs, 12 weeks be mature and only 3 or 4 would fertilize... Our embryos were not allowed to reach blasts and we only did 3rd day transfers (total of 6 transfers)
And to give you how I have a 2.5 years old daughter and a 1 month old son...
So numbers are just numbers and I hope mine being lower than yours gave you hope.
After a failed IVF round (17 eggs, 1 fertilisation/3 day transfer) Second time we went for ICSI- 19 eggs , 9 fertilised, 5 made it to blast. A couple of failed frozen cycles but 2 successful , blessing me 3 sons. . Don’t give up , picture your happy ending , sending positive vibes and luck your way xx
1st round - 13 collected but 0 fertilisation
2nd round - 12 collected but 0 fertilisation
3rd round - 12 collected and finally 3 fertilised!! You can imagine my face of joy with 3.
Unfortunately 2 didn’t make it to day 5, last one was transferred but not great quality and didn’t stick.
So I would definitely say 7 is great in my opinion and I don’t think it really matters if it’s 1 or 15, because you never know which is going to be the one that works.
