SENSITIVE….but alarm bells already ringing

Hi ladies. I got a BFP yesterday on our 4th FET. However I already think it’s going to be an unhappy ending. I’ve had 2 ectopics on the right side and had that tube removed last year. But overnight and this morning I’ve been having twinges on the left side and I’m so so scared it’s going the same way again. I’m trying not to jump to conclusions but I think when it’s always gone so wrong before I just can’t see this time being any different. I’ll book in with the EPU tomorrow for a scan, hopefully they’ll do it in the next week so I can know one way or another x

Congratulations! I can imagine how hard it must be to feel positive after 2 ectopics. I wish you all the best for the scan xxxx

Firstly congratulations on your BFP! I just wanted to share my experience as it’s similar to yours and also to let you know that I completely understand your anxieties as I’ve been there. I had a right sided ectopic on my second transfer in 2017 which was successfully treated with methotrexate. On my 3rd transfer I had a BFP and a successful pregnancy. We had our 4th transfer in 2020 for baby number 2 and had another right sided ectopic which resulted in emergency surgery and removal of my tube. This experience was really traumatic and the fear of another cycle and another ectopic despite having my tube removed was real. I had my left tube removed last year due to haematosalpinx and had my 5th transfer in March this year - I’m currently 18 weeks pregnant. Even though I’d had both tubes removed, I was still anxious about whether the embryo had implanted in the right place, especially as I had a lot of lower back pain during my TWW. I had a reassurance scan at 6 weeks with my clinic to check everything was in the right place. Good luck with your scan and hopefully it will alleviate some of your anxieties. X

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. And congratulations on your pregnancy! You’ve been through so much. Hopefully having a scan in a few will give me some answers x

Firstly, congratulations on your BFP! I completely understand your anxieties, having been through an ectopic pregnancy before as well. Just to try and offer some reassurance, I had pain on the opposite side after BFP as well and it all turned out ok. I'm not sure what causes all the twinges/pains but there is so much going on with our bodies, it doesn't always mean something bad. Not wanting to give you any false hope, but just to reassure that it can be possible to have pains and all be ok. You are doing the right thing by contacting EPU. You will likely need to get bloods every 48 hours initially, as it may still be too small to see on scan, but they will monitor you closely. Keeping everything crossed that all goes well and sending big hugs to you xx

Thank you for the reassurance, and don’t worry about giving me false hope it’s just really nice to know someone in a similar position had a good outcome. I hope everything is going well with you xx

Congratulations! It’s terrifying but twinges are also totally normal. I had pulling type twinges and intense lower back pain in the early weeks. EPU should always see ladies around the 6 week mark if you’ve have any ectopic or surgery to your tubes I was told so they should see you lovely. All the best!
