What's the secret to everyone's success??

Please can you all tell me how/why your IVF was successful, did you have McDonalds chips? Did you eat pineapple?? I've got until the end of September to plan my shopping needsšŸ˜

Lol, I saw McDonald's in your post and I had to respond. IVF didn't work for me at all but I managed to get pregnant naturally 8 months ago and I remember having an insane craving for McDonald's right after my BFP. I avoid junk food and haven't eaten McDonald's for probably 10 years, so it was so weird. I guess people get these crazy šŸ¤Ŗ cravings and that's why having Mickyd's gets associated with a successful cycle?

You actually actually eat the fries on transfer day so before cravings would kick in. Apparently itā€™s the sodium in the salt that helps embryo stick but personally I think we all just need a wee pick me up after getting to transfer day šŸŸ šŸ˜‚ amazing that was your craving once you were pregnant as well! Xx

For my first three transfers I did everything you read about; ate pineapple core (though stopped this with my third as you shouldnā€™t eat it whilst on blood thinners), ate 3x Brazil nuts, drank pom juice, ate healthy foods, wore fluffy socks etc. The first two were unsuccessful, the third ended with a CP (I did have McDonalds fries with that one).

My fourth and successful transfer I relaxed on those ā€œrulesā€ a bit. I hate Brazil nuts so I didnā€™t eat any of those, I didnā€™t religiously have pom juice or wear my fluffy socks (as it was warm anyway). I ate healthy foods as I tend to have a healthy diet anyway but I allowed myself treats if I fancied it like an ice lolly (again, because it was so warm). I took short and gentle walks outside every day, I didnā€™t exercise as my clinic actually advised against that but in general, mentally I was more relaxed and prepared I guess. I actually enjoyed my transfer and the TWW as much as I could, Iā€™d talk to my embabies and rub my belly whereas I didnā€™t do that with the first three. Risky move incase it didnā€™t work but it did!

I was on a lot more medication for my fourth and very closely monitored so I think this actually made the difference vs what I did and didnā€™t do or eat. But if it mentally helps you prepare then absolutely go for it. Keep your feet warm, eat lots of nutritious warm food such as broths and keep yourself well hydrated with lots of water. Try to get out for bed for walks so youā€™re moving and watch your favourite comedies to see you through!

Do what will make you feel better and if thatā€™s trying all the crazy myths/tricks then do it (my successful I did have 2 large McDs fries on the way home from transfer cos it was a bit of fun and yum so why not lol).

For me personally trying to follow all the insane stuff in the books like ā€˜itā€™s starts with an eggā€™ was too much pressure and can make you anxious, you already have enough procedures and things to follow from the clinic so ignored all that and ate and did what made my mind and body feel best and thatā€™s the cycle that worked (for some though I know that lots of healthy eating and exercise and for others I can be gentle exercise and treats like me!)! I just took pregnacare pre conception and folic acid for the successful one too in terms of vitamins (out of Amazon and home bargains so didnā€™t cost too much). Best of luck to you šŸ„° xx

Stay stress free, eat comfort foods and relax! I took two weeks off after transfer as my job is highly stressful and physically challenging too (Iā€™m a nurse) made no plans just chilled at home took the dog for walks and ate my fave foods!

I cooked and froze a lot before embryo transfer, so that healthy meals were readily available. I did not eat pineapple core, but cooked some sweet and sour pork with pineapples, yum. Also tried pom juice which gave me a headache so substituted for fresh pomegranates instead, much healthier less sugars. Cruciferous vegetables are also good, such as broccoli and cauliflower as they are anti-inflammatory. And fresh oranges give relief especially with all the meds causing trapped wind.On tranfer day there was no McDonald's near me, so opted for big chunky salt and vinegar chips from the chippy instead.

I had two failed transfers then on the third I had McDonalds fries on the way home, didnā€™t pee straight after transfer (waited till I got home over an hour later despite wanting to after being prodded at transfer!) then lay on the sofa watching Live at the Apollo as apparently laughter is good!

I didnā€™t bother with pineapple as got confused when I should and shouldnā€™t have it and had a few days off work (it was a weekend anyway but I took an extra day) where I just chilled and went on gentle dog walks. I did also keep my feet warm and tried to chill out as much as I could.

This transfer was successful šŸ˜Š

Good luck and my main advise is just look after yourself and make sure you only do what makes you feel good. Most of what I did were old wives tales I think but I just thought to myself if they arenā€™t harmful then why not!
