Anyone used accupuncture while going through IVF process? I have heard it does help in getting positive results. Planning to get before FET as fresh one failed. Any suggestions or experiences

Acupuncture during IVF?
I went to Acupunture from the moment my fresh cycle failed to my successful FET cycle. I had a good two months. Have seen her since finding out I’m pregnant but as soon as Im feeling up to it I will be going back. X
Congratulations for BFP. Fingers crossed for myself too🤞. Did you take any herbs too?
And did you conceive in your first cycle after starting sessions?
I didn’t takeThe herbs. Because I was naturally cold person she advised me to
Drink more warming herbal teas. Loved them. Some weeks I’d have one session, some I’d had two a week. From starting my PmS had all gone and I’d battling with them for years. I started Acupunture end of
September after failed fresh cycle, fet cycle started mid November, transfer was 1st December had BFP 6th December, 10th December 1st Beta 212. I do believe she really helped me, plus I introduced lots of
Things to my diet. Nuts, all the healthy fats. I’m still
In shock it has worked. Big hugs hun xxx
I’m currently going through a medicated FET and having acupuncture. I started going early December and had four sessions, with my FET scheduled for Tuesday and another acupuncture session booked for Thursday!
My consultant said there’s not scientific proof it helps but I’ve read lots of positive stories and if it helps to calm anxiety then I’m all for it.
I also suffer with really terrible cold feet and my acupuncturist was able to advise on how to improve that and that’s helped! He’s also advised on diet (as he said I have a blocked spleen and poor digestion which is a reason for my cold feet). Warm food = warm uterus!
Best of luck xxxx
Hi Xoxo13, this is rely interesting. I suffer from cold feet. Could you share more specifics of what helped you overcome this? Many thanks!
Of course..
So he said he thinks the root of my cold feet is a poor spleen and blocked digestive system so I’m not getting good enough blood flow to my feet (I honestly couldn’t feel the needles or the heat thing they put over you, that’s how cold my feet get). So he said that I need to eat more warm foods like soups and stews, with red meat a couple of times a week (I’m not a fan, but I’ve done it..), have more warming drinks and cut out the daily cold smoothie I was having, and keep my feet warm wearing wool socks and a hot water bottle (also to keep my torso warm).
A very simple thing, but I have started to wear wool socks (again, never used to wear socks around the house) and I sleep with a hot water bottle by my feet with socks and I’m sleeping so much better - getting a full 8 hours of good sleep a night. My digestive system has improved - it’s not perfect still, but it’s improved.
He’s theory is that if I warm the uterus up, there’s a healthier blood flow. The change in diet from cold foods to warm foods also helps my digestive system which in turn also helps blood flow so my feet aren’t as cold!
I haven’t had my transfer yet so can’t say if this will work - but mentally I think it’s helped me and I feel more rested and less chilly!
Hope this helps xx
I did before and after, I think it help me, in special after when I had morning sickness 😘
I've been going for a month now. Just started my stims this week but I really feel like it's helped calm me down in general particularly before christmas when work was stressful. I am aming to do one session a week and then do one just before and one just after transfer (if this goes ahead). Good luck on your journey!
I had 3 acupuncture sessions before my egg collection (covid had prevented anything earlier happening) It made me feel so relaxed and I really enjoyed it, im pleased to say Im 26 weeks now. Im thinking of having towards the end to help induce Labour. I'd definitely have it again if I have ivf for baby no2. Xx
I was really interested in getting acupuncture to see if it helps as I hear such good things about it but each time we are in a lockdown and no one open to do it!! Typically my bad luck! Xx
My daughters acupuncturist is allowed to practice in lockdown purely only for specific medical help and IVF falls under that category. May be worth checking with a pregnancy acupuncturist. Fingers crossed for you
I had acupuncture for about 2 months before my egg retrieval. I really wanted to make sure I was giving my eggs the best chance at being healthy. Acupuncture helps the blood flow to the ovaries and uterus. It also helped me with stress and I also believed I had a fairly easy STIMS cycle because of the acupuncture, daily yoga and a healthy diet with healthy fats. I also did it 2 days after retrieval, which I believe helped with my recovery. When the time comes for me to do a transfer I will definitely start a few months before. I had a very good outcome with my egg retrieval, they got 19 mature eggs. I definitely think you should start it before your FET. And like others have said, acupuncturists will also give you a lot of helpful tips!
Hi, I haven’t had IVF so it doesn’t really answer your question but I just wanted to let you know that I have been seeing a lady who specialises in fertility acupuncture because of it taking me a long time to conceive and I have suffered two miscarriages. For me it has been really helpful, I never had regular cycles until I started acupuncture so it must have done something, and also I am now 24 weeks pregnant and I have been continuing with acupuncture throughout the pregnancy. I would definitely recommend it. Most of the other ladies who go there are having ivf. Good luck!
I had acupuncture for the past year (prior to 2 egg collections and 3 transfers). I didn't have any before my last egg collection and transfer and we had our best number of blastocycts (8) and a chemical pregnancy (always been BFN before) - so if I'm honest I think it didn't make much difference to me. I think what really matters is whether your embryo is normal and the timing of the transfer. But who knows, maybe the year of acupuncture really helped prep me for that 3rd egg collection. I really hated the needles going in, but felt really good once they were, so for me it wasn't 100% relaxation - therefore I don't think I would bother with it again as it's super expensive on top of already expensive IVF! But that is just me, and if it helps with your anxiety and makes you feel like you are doing something to help (as I felt I should try everything) then it's worth it xx
I did for foe years for acupancture( while trying to concieve naturally). I also did it for my successful IVF fresh cycle and doing it again for my FET. It help me alot I use to have bad skin and lots of old blood ( sorry for to much details) now my periods are health clean less painful. Feel free to ask me for more details. I love acupancture and did see many benefits to from it.
And yes I did it through out of the pregnancy it helped with nausea and prepared me for labour. If i get pregnant again I will do just the same.😀
I’m hoping to start FET at end of this month after having a failed fresh cycle in November. I have had a couple of acupuncture sessions and plan on some more before my FET if nothing else it helps my feel more relaxed and generally a little healthier. Like you I heard positive reports and as I only have one frozen embryo thought anything is worth a go.
I'm having acupuncture at the beginning of feb for our ivf cycle. I hear good things and can't wait to get started!!! Good luck chick xxx
I had it throughout my egg retrieval and transfer. I believed it helped. 35 weeks pregnant as we speak
This is amazing to see so many positive results of Acupuncture. Wish I knew before. But as they say its never too late. I have 2 frozen embryos. So want to make the best shot. I have booked an appointment and as practioner says its less critical now as only transfers are left. Keeping my fingers crossed and pray for me.
Xoxo
And Congratulations to all who got BFP. Wish you all good health to you and your baby🤗🤗
Saw a fertility specialist acupuncturist for weeks prior and twice the day of FET. Didn’t work both times.
There is no good evidence to support acupuncture...even though there are a lot of anecdotes here about success with it, unfortunately from a data point of view they are not considered evidence..this is why clinical trials are conducted - so you can see if the positive effect of the intervention (acupuncture, drugs etc) happened by chance or whether there is actually a real effect of the intervention (due to the inclusion of a control group which didnt get the intervention). Sorry to be a debby downer...
I had it before my 2nd round and it still didnt work although I wasnt as anxious and my eggs were better quality. Im waiting to start my 3rd and will be having weekly sessions again. My friend got told she had less than 1% chance of conceiving naturally, and fell pregnant naturally. She was having accupuncture for a long time. Its not scientifically proven but helps you relax and switch off. X
Acupuncture is very useful during embryo transfer I failed two times of embryo transfer without acupuncture but in my third embryo transfer I used before and after acupuncture then I got positive and now I’m 13 weeks pregnant with twins
My first child godmother is our acupuncturist. After my father died my period stopped... or stopped having fresh blood... and after one session my periods came back to a full 5 days. If that doesn't prove it, I don't know what will! Good luck xx
Yes accupuntutre worked for my FET I believe in it. I Had loads before like weekly and had a few sessions after.... Good luck 🤞
