Which progesterone is more effective: water or oil?

Hello ladies,

I’m currently on 25mg of subcutaneous water progesterone injection in the morning and 25mg oil progesterone intramuscular injection in the evening (plus Crinone morning and evenjng).

However, I’ll be running out of the oil soon and in the U.K. the 25mg dose is not available (apparently there’s only the Prontogest which is 100mg).

I’ve asked my clinic (which is in Russia) and they said there’s no difference between water and oil progesterone so I can do 2 water ones when I run out of the oil.....

Does anyone have different info?

Hi ToughCOOKIE. Both the oil and water contain the same strength of medication. The oil one is absorbed a bit more slowly, and can be a bit more painful. I would just follow your clinic's advice and use "water" ones. Good luck! Diane

Personally, both oil and water (assuming this is Lubion) have worked equally well for me, when used at the same dose. Lubion was much easier to use. I know different clinics have different views on this, and some think oil is the gold standard. However my experience with Lubion was very good. How far along are you?

Thanks Peony! Yes I much prefer the subcutaneous injection too! I’ll be 5 weeks tomorrow ☺️So very early stages! Xx
