Testin progesterone levels before transfer

Hello everyone,

Curious to know when and if your progesterone levels were tested before the transfer? It doesn’t seem like my doc has plans to test the levels, so wondering how would he know how my levels are doing? Am I missing something?

I’ve never had mine tested and I’ve had a successful IVF. Currently just had another FET and not had it checked this time either x

Think they will be looking more at the effects of the progesterone on your lining. Hope all goes well x

If it is to reply exact to your question, then I can tell you no he doesn't know your levels. Usually there is a standard protocol for progesterone 400mg in the morning and 400mg in the evening. Most of the women are ok but there are some exceptions like me when we do not absorb so well progesterone pessaries. With NHS my progesteron levels never been checked, when I moved to private my clinic does this routinely. There we found out that I actually need progesteron injections. If you had a transfer done before and you started to have spotting before the OTD than it is more likely that you don't have enough progesteron in your body. Ask your clinic if they can check it for you. My clinic checked it on transfer day and it was 7 when it should have been minimum 10.

Thanks! How many days is the 400 mg protocol given.

I’m 4 days from my transfer and I was asked to start with crione gel morning and evening, and duphaston tablets (10mg each) morning afternoon evening. Then injections to be added 2 days before the transfer.

This doesn’t look like 400mg morning and evening. I’m worried that it might not be enough and there is no way to check also.

I asked this question too, the doctor said there was no point in testing my hormone levels because it’s all artificial from the drugs. Think I’ll be asking another doctor further down the line to confirm. No one wants to be difficult but in this situation I feel like we’ve had to push push push to get the best out of our doctors in terms of progress, tests and advice - hopefully it’ll be worth it!

Thanks and agree on pushing our doctors. Every body is different better to test than be sorry later.

Exactly- don’t want to be wasting embryos then back to the beginning again. We have to pay privately and can’t afford to start a fresh cycle again so I ask lots of questions!
