Question... on castor oil packs !?

Hi Ladies.

Quick question. I’ve my 7th FET booked for Wednesday 9th of sept ( next wk)

I’ve always suffered with thin lining, so this time I gave castor oil packs a go. I think it has made a big difference. I got to my 8mm at today’s scan ( woohoo 🙌) and I start progesterone tomorrow.

QUESTION IS... when do I stop using castor oil packs can I keep going till day before FET. Transfer or should I stop now before starting progesterone.

Appreciate your help on this one ladies ❤️

That’s great news

just wondering how long did it take for your lining to increase

I am suffering with a thin endometrial lining. I went for a scan on Saturday and my lining was 6.3mm I have been told that my lining needs to be at least 7mm for a transfer to go ahead.

I am going to try caster oil packs today but do you think it can work that quickly and increase my lining to 7mm in just 2 days

I have had one failed ivf cycle and 2 cancelled due to thin lining and worried I will have another cancelled as my lining may be to thin :(

I think it is definitely worth giving it a go. It definitely helped with mine. Do it both days in a row for about 30 mins. And use a hot water bottle again on your tummy at night also before going to sleep. Good luck, let me know if it grows any more for you. Ive my fingers crossed 🤞 xx

Drink lots of raspberry leaf too as well! That will help xxx

Thank you. I have heard about raspberry leaf tea but heard conflicting things .. I didn’t know if it was too late in my cycle to start drinking it (as it causes uterus to contract).. it could affect implantation, if I did happen to go ahead with the transfer)

Or do you think it’s safe to drink for the next few days and stop a few days before embryo transfer (if it does go ahead)?xx

It’s definitely fine to drink now and maybe stop 2/3 days prior to transfer? That’s what I did ☺️

I would drink 3 cups a day if you can. Good luck lovely. Keep us posted xxx

Hi Ladies, little update

I went for a follow up scan today and my lining ranged from 7.9mm to 8.2mm (triple pattern) best my lining has ever been- they even checked it 3 times as they couldnt believe it! However it seems a mistake was made by the clinic!

The embryologist came in and said that a decision on whether to proceed with my embryo transfer should of taken place on Saturday (10th) as I would of needed to start Cyclogest that same day ready for transfer (apparently the last day to make a decision for transfer is day 18 and I was already on day 19). It would of likely been cancelled as my lining was too thin at that point.

How the nurse didn’t pick this up on Saturday I have no idea, and I have asked them to speak to the Nurse when she is back tomorrow for an answer!

I got told today that I have missed the implantation window (as implantation usually occurs between cycle day 20-24) - so I would have needed to have the transfer latest this Thursday (day 24 of my cycle).

They have said I can go ahead with transfer on Monday (and start cyclogest tomorrow) if I wanted to, but the impression I get is it likely won’t work and up to me to accept the risk (as transfer day would be day 28 of my cycle).

I am on an artificial (medicated) cycle so I won’t have a period until I stop the meds. Does anyone have any advice or experience on whether it is worth going ahead with the transfer? Or any success stories of people getting pregnant with an 5 day blastocyst (4Bb) transferred on day 28 of your cycle.?

(I am so upset with my clinic for making this mistake) xx

Gosh Im so sorry Kim! This is just awful! I would be tempted to cancel if the embryologist isn't keen. I know my clinic didn't like me being on estrogen for any longer than around 18/19 days before adding in progesterone.....Ive had lining nightmares in the past and sometimes its gone to the wire and we have also had to cancel! My worry is that although everything is looking great and it might be ok but what if it wastes those precious embryos. Im appalled that you clinic missed this huge detail so can only imagine how angry you are. If you decide not to go ahead then what you can take from this though is your lining can do this and hopefully the clinic have learned and can get you on a higher dose of meds sooner and you can do your extra bits that you have learned. Im so sorry, so disappointing for you! Hugs.xx

we have decided to cancel and not risk our embryo this time. We have a phone call appointment in the morning with the doctor. I’m going to be having words with him when I speak to him as it’s a huge mistake they had made..

Silver lining is definitely my lining being thicker today. So am hoping for a positive outcome on our 5th attempt.

Thank you for your kind words Cinderella5, I really appreciate it 💕 xxx

I think you are doing the right thing if its any consolation! I know how it feels to have things cancel when you're geared up....its horrible but you want to give yourselves the best possible chance. Have a nice treat to yourselves tonight and for the next few days and yes see what the Dr has to say for themselves!xxx

Firstly I’m delighted to hear your lining thickened 👍 I really am convinced the castor oil packs make a massive difference and the good thing is you now know you CAN grow a nice thick triple lined lining 👍💪 congratulations 🥳

However, I personally would listen to your doctor. If he feels you missed your transfer window I would definitely not go ahead. Your embryos hunni are far to precious and a 4bb sounds like a super blastocyst 💖

It’s easier to prepare for another transfer date then to have to have to go through another egg collection to get such a good grade blast.

My advice would be try again for next month. Work on getting your lining perfect again. And pop that 4bb blast back in on the right day and in the right environment giving it every chance for it to implant and grow 💖🙏🤞💖

Ps

Totally understand why you would be raging with your clinic. Terrible mistake to be made but least it was picked up on and you haven’t wasted a lovely grade embryo being transferred on the wrong day 💖

Thank you TeenyTiny you are absolutely right.. we have been in touch with the clinic and cancelled the cycle and I’ve taken my patch off and come off my meds..

I’ve told them I want to start ASAP with my next cycle and I’ll speak to the Dr in the morning.

Should I continue with the castor oil packs or do I need to stop using them when I’m on my period? Xx

Your defo making the right decision. No stop the packs for now hun. I’d say you will get a bleed in bout 3/4 days. Then if you decide to go with this bleed start packs as soon as period stops . Only do pack every 3rd day if you are starting from the beginning of cycle. Also take a vitamin e supplement up until transfer day.... it also helps to thicken lining 👍 and you can use hot water on your tummy every night 👍

Wishing you the best of luck 💖

Praying that this next transfer will be your time 🙏🙏 you deserve it xx.

Please keep me posted, I will be thinking of you xx

Ok great I’ll stop doing the packs for now then. I do already take vitamin E (amongst loads of other things lol).

I live for my hot water bottle as well so I think I’ve covered all basis :)

Fingers crossed it works for us next time.. 5th times a charm I hope 😂

Will keep you posted, thank you 💕 xx
