Low AMH

Has anyone been successful through IVF with a low AMH? I am 36 with an AMH of 5.4. We recently had our first cycle cancelled due to Covid 19 and on my baseline scan I only had 7 follicles. Enough to go ahead but not great. With everything going on it has made me probably overthink everything and just wondered if anyone has been successful? TIA

Hi, I’m 39 and my amh was 5.7 when I last got tested in October. I had my 2nd cycle at the beginning of March with a new clinic abroad. They put me on a short protocol. Gonal f 225 and menopur 150 for 8 days.

On my baseline scan it didn’t look very encouraging but then when I had the 2nd scan during stims they counted 16 follicles. They managed to collect 9 eggs and I was lucky that they all fertilised and 5 made it to blastocyst. They transferred 2 and froze 3.

I got a BFP at the end of March and I’m now waiting for my viability scan which will be on Friday.

So in answer to your question yes you can be successful with a lower AmH plus your younger than me x

Hi. Thank you for replying. I have been struggling to come to terms with my AMH and having more time thinking about it i don't think has helped. Your reply has given me some hope.

Myself and my husband have a 3 yr old together who was conceived naturally, who now I class as my little miracle. We have been diagnosed with secondary infertility but I know we are extremely lucky as we have our son. Our IV is private due to us having him.

I really hope your scan goes well x x

Are you having your first cycle through the NHS? X

I am 27 with an AMH of 6.7 when I was tested which was when I was 26. It came as a huge shock and I have struggled with it. However, I had four eggs from our ICSI cycle, 1 fertilised and I am 21 weeks pregnant with our one little fighter. It just goes to show that AMH is one element, but doesn’t determine the outcome. All the best x

Thank you for your reply. It is really encouraging to hear some success stories. Im extra nervous due to my age and not knowing when we can start again with Covid 19.

Congrats on your pregnancy x x

can i ask what protocol you were on?

I was on long protocol and the consultants had me on Bemfola 225 completely based on my age and not my AMH. One consultant was appalled that I was put on that protocol and dosage. My NHS round really was treated like a ‘one size fits all’ approach and we were extremely lucky.

I'm 33 and have very mild endometriosis. My amh was 9.7. I got 4 eggs, of which one fertilised successfully and I'm now nearly 11 weeks.

AMH only looks at the amount of eggs rather than quality soninwould focus in that and try to improve the quality of your eggs if you can. Theres a great book written by a doctor who's had IVF called It starts with the egg. It has some simple things you can do to help and some other bits you can do. I picked the doable ones and stuck with them, before and during treatment, whether it helped or not I'm not sure but I'm certainly not complaining. Best of luck xxx

Hi there, my AMH was 6.2 and I’m 41 (almost 42). I’m currently 35 weeks pregnant with twin girls.

Try to stay positive and remember, it only takes one xx

My AMH was 2.2 last year when I was 33 years old. I had my first ivf cycle, we collected 7 eggs and 2 went all the way to blastocyst. I’m now 30 weeks pregnant with our precious little one. I hope this gives you hope just like someone else did on the forum gave hope to me. Stay positive and good luck xx

Hi I’m 24 did my amh at 23. My amh was 2.2 ng/ml. I never asked if it was low or high. They recovered 18eggs from me with 17beibg mature. Froze 7, fertilized 10 and 8 beautiful fertilized🙃 froze another 4 and watched 4 grow strong up until 5 days. They did a fresh fresh transfer that was unsuccessful and the second transfer is postponed due to covid. I hope in this time my husband and I could conceive naturally leaving it in Gods hands

in reply to Ttdenny

Hi Ttdenny im sorry your fresh didnt work but what wonderful numbers! If you dont mind me asking is your clinic in UK? Ive never heard of this that you can freeze some of the eggs and some of the early embryos. Xx

👋🏻Hello! Click on my profile and read my posts. This time last year I was 33 and had just been told my AMH was 2.3 and that I only had 3 follicles left. I am now looking at my 10 week old little boy from our first ICSI cycle. There are lots of people on here with similar stories. Stay strong and positive, I’m sure it will work out for you 💪🏻✨xx

Hi Fox, I am in a similar situation. My AMH was 2.4 in October last year. Was due to start ivf in March and got cancelled. Now all I can think about is my AMH being a lot worse off now (6 months after my initial AMH test). My AFC at the time was 5. I didn’t have a proper period last month, it was just spotting so now I’m worried I’m heading into early menopause 😞 or that it was stress. I also had stage IV endo and I am worried a cyst will develop on my ovary! So many things to think about xx

I really sympathise as I feel exactly the same. It is really hard not knowing when we can start again and since i stopped treatment I haven't had a proper period and that was 30 days ago!

Some of the replies I have had have made me feel better though and gave me a little bit of hope. As they say it only takes 1! I really hope everything works out for you x

Yeah some of the replies have given me some hope too.

I got an e mail from my ivf clinic yesterday saying it could be several months before they’re up and running again!! That’s ages!!!!!

I hope everything works out for you too 😘 xx

Hi. I am 33 and last year I found out my AMH was 3.5 at 32 years old. We had been trying for just under 3 years and had our first private ivf consultation when I found out I was pregnant naturally just after. I am now almost 28 weeks. I can’t really answer your question about ivf as I didn’t actually get that far in the end, but just wanted to let you know my story to hopefully give you some hope. It can happen, just might take a bit longer. It’s egg quality over quantity. Wish you all the best! Xx

Hi! It’s so so hard not to over think things especially during this difficult time. My AMH was 7 when I was 31 I’m now just about to turn 34 and my 8 month old is asleep on my lap. I had 2 egg collections always had very low number of eggs collected but fertilisation and quality was always good. It really does only take one. Wishing you all the best 💕💕💕
