Hi, I just wondered if anyone had any experience of undergoing IVF abroad.
Our second cycle has just ended in MMC and we are looking at options for the future. We have lots of questions for our existing clinic when or if we can have a follow up with them, but my husbands main concern is that the miscarriage was due to poor sperm quality. I know it’s very difficult to know what caused a miscarriage when it’s early but our concern is that the same thing could happen again, either total fertilisation failure like our first cycle or embryos that just aren’t destined to make it like our second. We’re now getting to the point of considering donor sperm as an option, almost as a way of listening to nature instead of fighting against it. We are considering Poland as an option, partly due to cost and also partly based o the fact they still have anonymous donors there so there’s a much wider selection to choose from than in the U.K.
I just wondered if anyone had any experience of treatment abroad or using donor after failed IVF attempts and could offer their viewpoint. I don’t know if we would need IVF or IUI if we went abroad. As far as any of the investigations have found, our issue is purely male factor.
Thank you in advance.

Ive had experience of abroad. We went chzech republic. Although we didnt use donor i know the clinic commonly offered this service and the donors were anonymous as lots of other women using the same clinic used donors. Good luck x
I just got my first ever BFP after using donor eggs at a clinic in Czech Republic. They also have anonymous donors. I cannot recommend the clinic highly enough. My partner has some sperm issues (0% morphology) but ICSI comes part of the package and they recommended we use MACS. We ended up with two top grade blastocysts. We had never even made it to blastocyst before. X
I went to clinic in athens, its coordinated by an English nurse that lives out there. Happy to send you details. First round was positive, but mmc. Second negative and third round positive
We had two failed cycles with the NHS (first cycle: two blastos, negative, nothing to freeze; second cycle: positive, sadly ectopic, and nothing to freeze).
Then we decided we needed a more personal approach, so we met the staff of a clinic in Norway at the Fertility Show in our city, and we liked them a lot.
We had one round with them: 3 embryos, two transferred on day 2 from fresh (BFN), and a frozen blasto, who is now our 7 month old healthy baby girl.
We also had male factor (1% morphology), so they recommended ICSI, which comes very cheap on top of the other expenses (Embryoglue is included, as is embryoscope). Also, after visiting the clinic (and having some tests done there) they gave me some medications too, including hormone replacement for thyroid which nobody mentioned in the UK, and metformin because in my family we have a history of diabetes.
