1st cycle failed - which questions should you ask?

Hello, first post here. Feeling very grateful for this lovely community...

Sadly, our first cycle of IVF failed this week. I didn't respond as well as we would have liked to the medication (Gonal F) and we had just a couple of small follicles at first tracking scan. We upped our dosage significantly for a couple of days and the next scan showed us three follicles of good size so went ahead with the collection. There was just one egg and we heard the same day that it just wasn't healthy or mature (I'm not sure) enough to transfer.

It was hard to take, and both my partner and I have done a lot of crying, panicking and working hard to steady ourselves in the last couple of days.

I'm in the process of setting up a follow-up appointment. I felt sure I'd seen someone post about a list of questions to ask at an appointment like this. Could anyone point me in the right direction? I'd be hugely, hugely grateful!

Diane the administrator is brill. I did exactly the same post, re look through mine. I had a poor response (I went from egg collection 3 eggs to 1 egg to with a 5% chance) then second cycle I’m on now 10 eggs collected to 8 fertilised. Currently that’s all I have news wise. I took dhea only on advice of consultant and had a higher dose of Meriofert. My main questions were what went wrong, why, and what can I do next time to avoid it. Xx

I'm so pleased for you that had eight fertilised eggs. you must be made up! that gives me a lot of hope to go on. thanks so much!
