Miracles do happen!! (twice!)

so after our miracle ivf baby who was born in 2017, we decided to try for number 2! We started trying naturally, but made an appointment with our fertility clinic to discuss a fet with our 1 remaining frostie. Appointment with nurse was 3rd Jan, who did the basics and booked a consultant appointment for May. In the meantime i booked a gp appointment (4th Feb) to ask for progesterone support whilst trying naturally. I also started baby aspirin in October. Cycles 28-32 days long, was 3 days late so decided to test (which usually brings on period!!) except it was positive!!! Totally unexpected, it was 5:30 and i was getting already for work so definitely woke me up! I'm now 5 weeks and impatiently waiting for my scan. We're spoilt with early scans in ivf! So anyway, just wanted to share as i was one of those who thought, yer that'll never happen to me! 😨 I'm 37 next month too so i was even more pessimistic. btw... I'm convinced baby aspirin works, i took it on my fet too. Xxx

Congratulations! I'm thankfully pregnant after 1 round of ivf due to unexplained infertility with a singleton (no frosties) and was put on blood thinners and baby aspirin as part of the treatment which I really believe helped. I'm grateful to get this far and hopefully, all being well have at least 1 child but always have that niggling question about if we would be able to conceive another naturally in the future so thank you. This post gives me a lot of hope xx

apparently a lot of women who have ivf get pregnant naturally... Something to do with your body knowing what to do? Who knows, we tried for 3 years before ivf and 4 months this time!! I just never thought I'd be one of those people. good luck with your pregnancy. Xxx

Wow! What an amazing success story. Congratulations, how exciting. We’re currently expecting baby no.2 - both IVF bubs for us. Have a 3 year old and currently 27 weeks along with no.2.

Can’t imagine how amazingly wonderful a natural pregnancy after IVF must feel, so lucky!

All the best, hope time goes quick for your scan xx

thank you, I'm still in shock!! I never thought it would happen. I did the test to bring on my period! 😂 bit of a shock at 5:30am... It's so nice that people don't know yet too, last time the clinic, our families, my boss and close friends all knew! I feel very lucky ☺ nice to know we can get pregnant naturally after all we went through. Best of luck with trimester 3! Xx

Congratulations! Can i ask what the baby aspirin does? Does it help when trying naturally? Thanks xx

the theory behind it is that it increases blood flow to the uterus for a better lining... I have pre period spotting and light periods which is why i used it. I also took it with my ivf cycle... 75mg daily from day 14 (ovulation) till period comes or if pregnant up till 12 weeks. It also reduced my spotting in previous cycles, we had been trying naturally since September amd started aspirin in October 👍 they used to advise it as standard in ivf apparently! Doesn't do any harm unless you have clotting/bleeding disorders. Xx

Thanks for the reply, where can i get this from? And would i take it from day of ovulation too? I also have spotting and started having 1-3 day periods the last 12 months x

embiemomma profile image
embiemomma in reply toH0pe2

you can get it pretty much anywhere, i had mine from Tesco on our shopping delivery! It's cheap too, less than £1 for 30... Yes for pre period spotting and implantation issues, from ovulation to period/12 weeks if pregnant. X

Thank you! Is there a certain one to get? When do you take it? First thing? Xx

in reply toH0pe2

It’s just low dose aspirin 75g don’t get the normal dose! You can take it any time it thins your blood people take it aswel if they’ve had strokes or heart attacks etc

I love this! I'm in the exact same position as you and I just can't believe it! Booked my GP appointment today and I feel like you... No viability scan this time so eagerly awaiting any kind of official appointment. Best of luck and here's to our miracles :-)

embiemomma profile image
embiemomma in reply toKempton

i actually have an early scan booked for Monday when i will be 6 weeks as I have had some mild spotting... Not ideal, but at least i don't have to wait 7 weeks!! Best of luck to you too! 🤞xxx

embiemomma profile image

so, had our early scan today (6+1) and saw the heartbeat! Was worried it might be too early but all good news. No spotting for 3 days so hopefully that's it and i can relax a bit now 🤞 they also asked if they could scan me twice to test out a new scanner so saw it twice and got 2 pictures! 👍 xx
