My husband and I have our initial appointment with the fertility specialist with view to start IVF! I'm so restless/nervous/excited... ππππ All over the shop! Back in April we were refered from one consultant and fertility nurse specialist who saw us through months of Clomid, Clomid/Metformin and Menopur injection... Etc etc with nothing more than a 9mm follicle on my ovaries to show for it! π meh!
So we're on the cusp of a new adventure into IVF... I'm new to all this, but it's reassuring to read all your experiences - good and bad... Oh and getting my head around the terminology! Would love to hear your experiences on how long you had to wait from first consultation to actually getting started?! Thanks all π

Wishing you lots of luck for tomorrow, I feel quite a regular at my clinic but still get that complete mix of emotions leading up to an apt so that's understandable.
You'll definitely get lots of support from the lovely ladies on here, I also tried clomid for 7 months with no success before having my first cycle of IVF last year - I fell pregnant but miscarried and have since had 2 FET cycles both unsuccessful. I waited about 4 months between being told I could start and my first injection with a quite few tests and lots of paper work in between xx
Thank you for your reply, I hope your next adventure is a successful one. You deserve a happy outcome π
Hey. I had my first IVF appointment last week & are just waiting to get our treatment schedule so we can get started. I was cool as a cucumber..... until we got to the waiting room π. They were brilliant & explained everything so our next step will be an appointment with a nurse to show how to administer the hormones etc. So I can't actually give you a time scale yet but was told I would hear in the next couple of weeks (to fit in with my cycle I think). Good luck for tomorrow π
This cycle that hope to start on 18th July has taken over year and 3 months, blood test after blood test hsg then another lap which resulted in my last tube being clipped due to hydrosalpinx, then month. delay in started due to not being immune to rubella, finally on track had consultation may 9th had to go on metformin due to very high amh levels, also put on the pill with my June period, nurse appointment 3rd July to go over it all and more blood test, feeling down and anxious but hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel, xx
Hey good luck with the whole process it's a scary but very exciting journey to be on! Good luck all the way we started April and just got a bfp so keep a positive mind xx
About terminology. You can use this as dictionary hfea.gov.uk/glossary.html
Waited for fist consultation and beginning of tests for 2 months (USA, haven`t had a time for it or were bad times for it). Didn`t even start IVF, because of low health (must restore it first). In case if I started IVF it would take 2 month (in general) period before you can start egg collection.
If you meant stimulation - as soon as tests results are ready.
All of this begins if there no notable problems in tests. According to doc`s speech yesterday.
