Ultrasound results.

Got a call from my doc about the results of my ultrasound. She said I have fatty liver disease as expected but now says I need an mri as there is a small peripherally based wedge-shaped hypoechoic lesion on my left lobe measuring 1.5 cm x 1 cm. It was a quick call with no explanation of what it means and what it could be. Waiting on the call from radiology to set up the mri is typically booked months out at my local VA hospital. I just wish communication was something the va would work on. Months of stressing about what something may or may not be is draining to say the least.

I know that is extremely frustrating. Stress will not help you While you wait, see what you can do on your own with a lifestyle change to address the fatty liver. Diet, exercise, no drinking if you do, etc. Try to stay positive - you have a good support community here.

I'm in a tough spot, im underweight with NAFLD. Doing the fatty liver diet will cause me to lose even more weight. I know stressing will not help me but it's hard not to. Stuff keep piling up. I had an upper endoscopy yesterday and a mass was found in my stomach. I cut seem to catch a break

Gosh - you do have a lot of weight on your shoulders I don't know anything about the VA system but with the liver ultrasound and now the stomach mass, I would hope they could get you in sooner. Keep pushing and be tenacious - we are our own best advocates.

Thanks for the support. I think my biggest concern right now is the location of the stomach mass and the liver lesion. They liver lesion is on the section of my left lobe that is pressed against my stomach in the same area as the mass. Its so hard not to fear metastatic cancer. In the end I know my age is on my side (38) and there are a whole host of benign causes for some of this stuff.

Please keep us posted as you find out more. As you said, whatever it is could be benign so don't borrow trouble. Stay strong. Eat healthy, even if you are already underweight. I, too, have lean NAFLD.

I do not know anything about how the VA functions. My first thought is do you have to stick with the VA doctors? Can you seek these tests elsewhere? Many of the members here have been through the worries and stress that goes along with serious medical concerns. I don't know how well you feel at this point, but if you can increase your exercise while you wait for tests/treatments it could help you. As for the healthy eating part since you're not overweight it seems different for you but I believe you and most of us can add foods/beverages to your daily menu that your liver loves. Of course eliminate some more of the things that aggravate your liver. This does not need to alter calories at all. I hope all of your masses turn out to be something simple to fix.

Can't really go else where as I live on disability. I couldn't afford insurance or to pay out of pocket.
