At this time diet and exercise are the only real tools we have. Here is a link to information that I have found to be valuable to me.

I agree that diet and exercise are key. Stop all alcohol.

Eat no red meat. When your body says it's time to rest, you rest. Watch your diet, you will know what your liver will digest and what it won't. You will be exhausted if it's having a hard time. Learn to listen to your body. Don't drink alcohol on a regular bases. My Dr. actually told me a class of wine once a month is ok. Especially if your stressed, you need to keep stress out of your life. Lose weight. Right now that is the only cure and the only way to live.

You can do this! I was told a month ago i have NASH as well. I own a winery. So telling me no alcohol is life changing. But i'm doing it. My liver doctor told me if i can lose 10% of my weight i can lose the fat around the liver (maybe not the fibrosis, but certainly stop F3 from going to F4, and maybe even reverse). I'm using Walter Longo's PROLON fasting mimicking diet program, already lost 12 pounds and feel good. For us with Nash, mediterranean diet means mostly vegetables with a little fish. It doesn't mean lamb chops, gyros and feta cheese. Keep in mind, it's not just the booze, but the western diet, the medications you take, the environmental toxins we all breathe and absorb through our skin, etc. Read, read, read. Your mind needs to move from fear to power.

My GI doctor refuses to endorse any particular diet or generally advise me what to eat more or less of. He says theres tons of studies out there but the sample sizes aren't very large. His advice is basic: Limit alcohol consumption and lose weight. When it comes to weight loss, he says he doesn't really care how I do it in terms of which diet I choose. He just wants me to find something I can stick to it and if something shows in my blood work or other exams then I can tweak it accordingly.
