Hi everyone. After experiencing dull pain in my upper right abdomen for several months, I was diagnosed at age 49 with NAFLD and Stage 1 fibrosis based on a CT scan, blood work, and a Fibroscan. I’m now 50. I don’t yet know whether I have NASH but am doing everything I can — mainly, working with a nutritionist and becoming more physically active — to prevent that outcome. Having made some fairly dramatic dietary changes (including elimination of sugary foods, other simple carbs, and even my long-time twice daily Diet Dr. Pepper habit) — I’ve lost about 16 pounds over the last 8-10 weeks, and am aiming to lose another 15-20. Will be following up with my gastro for a reassessment in about 3 months. Fingers crossed.

Stage 1 fibrosis is technically NASH but you are doing the right things and for most people who succeed at weight loss and changing their diet it resolves. Congratulations on discovering it early.
